In HotA, Necropolis with Galthran is far from a weak faction, especially with experience. Ask Forrest, who in a game with me used them to break ГО on Jebus Cross with 15 gold on day 117 :)
It's quite possible. Cast the Raise Dead spell, accumulate mana, and within the first six days, sacrifice expendable monsters, buy skeletons, and the Dragons will fall. =) Using the rest of your army as cannon fodder.
This is easily possible. The spell Raise Dead, mana, and over the first six days you can farm, sacrifice leftover monsters, buy more skeletons, and the Dragons will fall. =) Using the rest of the army as meat.
There is a much easier way — Gosha with a starting stack of 130-150 skeletons + feeder zombies breaks a Dragon Fly Hive for 6-8 Ducks or a Griffin Conservatory for 1-2, then it's a matter of execution, by week 3 having 10 Angels or 50+ Ducks, + a feeder will take down any ГО, its strength lies in the starting stack, and with experience it becomes even more imbalanced.
And are skeletons strong? They don't seem any stronger than troglodytes, at least visually. And there are fewer of them; Galtran probably gets around 20 of them in a stack. What can they do?
4 Skeleton Pits + 4 Hives + many battles = 200+ skeletons with swords and 20 decent Vivs, plus expert armor :) I don't remember if there was a way to raise undead, though. Anyway, this is off-topic :o
WishmasteR, sorry for the off-topic, but how long ago was that game played? I somehow thought that Fortress isn't playing right now. I would like to watch his games.

Here is a report: /topic/7760/ At that time, he was still playing, albeit infrequently, and he even streamed this game. But now I don't know; I haven't been in the WT chat for a while.
I still think it's not worth comparing SoD and WT. Tolyan even killed ГО on 115 playing as a Necromancer Castle, but that' same the nature of the template, as well as +1 HP for skeletons in WT and troop experience.
In SoD, I personally don't see any "requirement" to upgrade necromancers, unless it's Galtran, obviously. The example from a beginner's game only shows that both players chose such a gameplay strategy, not that it was the best choice in that situation. Damn, I'm getting confused with my commas now).

Even pros don't make the "best" choice! Because that always implies a giant risk. :)
We spent a long and painful time choosing restarts, had to recreate several times due to the starting level. But the result turned out pleasant - 2 external dwellings of minotaurs near the castle, cleared by week 1. Of course, tempo was lost, gave up on building up, built minotaurs with the portal and started buying out 2 strike stacks - minotaurs and Troglodytes. On day 121 in the swamp I took a Griffin Conservatory 2. Since I couldn't check how many, I pulled everything I could just in case. Alas, but almost without losses. Took General secondary skill Inferno underground on day 124, see a fast passage to the opponent, it's far to drag to the treasure zone and who knows what's there, and from the other secondary the swamp to snow makes no sense to go either. Decided to try my luck in battle! On day 126 I caught a scout hero with a bear, went along the path to the castle. 127 - Tyraxor attacks in the field, having 2 shooter stacks of 21 elfs and 15 orcs, as well as a significant speed advantage (terrain + necklace). But there are 7 birds, and about 27 wolves, no strike stack, therefore despite the unpleasant shooting I eliminated the Barbarian. Thanks for the game!

On 126 I caught a lich with a behemoth, went along the path to the castle. 127 - Tyraxor attacks in the field, having 2 ranged stacks of 21 elves and 15 orcs, as well as a significant speed advantage (terrain + necklace). seemed like everything was going well. on 1st - behemoths. albeit without a castle. 2 conservatories scouted. I lost half the dogs and meat while breaking through to the secondary. 15 dogs left. on 2nd - cleared the medusa dwelling, dwarf dwelling on 10. The castle was coming up - but the opponent arrived, and in the end I had to buy out. Conservatories - didn't make it in time.
then after looking at the save - one was 2, the other - 1. so I think even with 3 angels I wouldn't have taken the opponent. although the chances would have been better. 2 external dwellings of minotaurs - that's strong, especially on the 2nd week =) thanks for the game.
