In St. Petersburg, we started playing Divided Loyalities with a 2-minute turn timer, QC (Quick Combat), 3-hand battles per game, and a maximum game time of 3 hours. This was back in 1999... We complained a lot ;) But that was the tournament format, and it allowed us to hold tournaments every month, and even more often...
Maybe this is exactly the format we should strive for? Maybe this format would attract more people? Plus, we need to make simultaneous turns work properly, and that's all people need.
R55Max, you're amazing. I'm just amazed at how you can write such long posts about nothing. I (and I think 90% of people) can't read them because there are too many words. Can you explain in two sentences what you want? :D
To dive into something that's already been proven, you need to have a very good understanding of what's what and how it works. You clearly don't understand this, which is why you're spouting nonsense. I get it — age, ambition, the desire to prove yourself, to do something significant. But along with the desire, you still need to add a bit of capability.
In the context of the development of Heroes, you need your words to carry weight — knowledge of the game mechanics and the history of Heroes' development, the ability to play and win, understanding the general logic of Heroes' existence and evolution, the same applies to esports in general, the ability to make accurate assessments of things that currently can't be specifically verified, the ability to correctly evaluate trends and make predictions based on them, and finally, the ability to convince people you're right.
You're still struggling with all of this, which is why your words aren't taken seriously. Just... hot air ...
Added after 11 minutes Nah, they were around in many places before. It's just that HeroesWorld is newer, not everything has been discussed yet.
Let's count. That post of yours was written when you were 21, 8 years have passed, you've matured, but you still agree with the fundamentals, right? And they are also the basis of my statements, so don't say otherwise. So really, you're just as much of a kid as I am. I will learn, play, and learn, and who knows what will happen in 8 years.

R55Max, you're crazy. I'm just amazed at how you can write such mile-long posts about nothing. I (and I think 90% of others) just can't get through them because there are too many words. Can you explain in two sentences what you want? :D
Merge SoD and HotA, but that's impossible without mile-long discussions.

What is the difference between what you are writing and a log (at best) floating downstream, saying, "Oh, sorry, I didn't bother you."
The difference is that it is much harder to acknowledge the existence of patterns (and therefore the absence of randomness as such [and therefore one has to admit that the random number generator is not to blame for my problems, but I am myself]), than to blame everything on chance and float downstream like a log. Recognizing patterns, fate, karma does not mean that nothing can or should be changed! It does not mean that nothing depends on us (almost everything depends on a person's desires)! It does not mean that one should passively float downstream; on the contrary, this knowledge makes it possible to more effectively improve the situation.
It is sad to see a person whose irony is entirely aimed at offending and portraying another person as an idiot, just because their views do not match yours, in order to elevate themselves in their own eyes.
I am not forcing you to change your point of view; stick to your own. If you disagree, so be it.
What is the point of insulting anyone? Even if a person is wrong, does that give you the right to insult them? Try to suppress your pride and not write another offensive post in response.
I am 100% sure that you won't be able to do it. IMHO. _____________________________________________________
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 can undoubtedly be included in the WCG, and in terms of spectacle, it can compete with Warcraft 3, StarCraft 1, 2, Counter-Strike 1.6 - but in my opinion, it needs strong lobbying. Warcraft 3, StarCraft 1, 2, Diablo 2, Age of Empires are the best games in their genre, but nevertheless, they made it to the WCG and ESWC, and are still there, largely due to the powerful (including financial) lobbying of Blizzard.
Neither the merger of SOD and WT, nor the perfect optimization of WT, will help Heroes of Might and Magic 3 get into the WCG without strong lobbying. IMHO. Maybe that's for the best; otherwise, the "hardcore" Koreans and Chinese will dominate this game as well :D
Combine SoD and VT, but it's impossible without miles of discussions.
Nobody is going to discuss miles of things, because everyone has already decided for themselves what they want to play. There's no need to invent a mix of Hold'em and Omaha just so that all people play one poker.

Blizzard.
Yes! Blizzard rules and promotes its products, while 3DO has been gone for a long time.
Message from Dirty_Player: No one will discuss kilometers because everyone has decided for themselves what they want to play. There's no need to invent a mix of Hold'em and Omaha so that everyone plays the same poker.
There are such people. At least because the discussion is on page 210, not page 190.

"SC and WC3 differ significantly in their underlying ideologies; they are truly different games, which is evident in many factors. For example, the player base – attempts to combine or even transition between the two have largely failed. The initial advantage of Starcraft players in fast-clicking and intense gameplay was quickly offset by new players whose mindset was better suited for Warcraft."
Vikk, please, don't write such nonsense! I'm curious, where did you get this from? Despite my respect for you, I must say that the level of "grinding" and fast-clicking is roughly the same in both games, and most pro gamers don't find it difficult to switch from one to the other. Who, when transitioning from Warcraft to StarCraft II, failed and ended up in a slump? Give me some names, please! Grubby (Netherlands), Happy (Russia) – there are only a few who haven't fully adapted yet... but in general, the adaptation process has just begun, as StarCraft II is still a raw game.
Vikk, please, don't write such nonsense! I'm curious, where did you get this from? Despite my respect for you, I'll say that in both StarCraft and Warcraft, the level of dedication and the use of fast-clicking are roughly the same, and it doesn't cause much difficulty for most pro gamers to switch from StarCraft to Warcraft and vice versa. Who, when switching from Warcraft to StarCraft II now, couldn't adapt and failed? Please, write down the nicknames, I beg you!)))) Grubby (Netherlands), Happy (one of ours, Russia), there are only a few who haven't adapted yet... and in general, the adaptation process has only just begun, because StarCraft II is still an unfinished game.
Where did you see a mention of SC2 in my text? I was talking about Warcraft 3 and StarCraft 1. So, I observed the transition from StarCraft to Warcraft in 2003-2004 in all details, I participated in it myself, and discussed it with people. I saw how the "fathers" of StarCraft came to Warcraft, who adapted, who showed what results, who returned later, etc. So, this is specific personal experience based on observations.
I don't know what will happen in this regard with SC2, I don't follow it closely.

Vik's point of view (that a good Warcraft 3 player cannot become an equally good StarCraft 1 or 2 player, and vice versa) is shared by many top Warcraft and StarCraft players. However, there are already many examples of good Warcraft players who are showing very good results in StarCraft 2. For example, Happy, considered the best Undead player in Warcraft 3 history, was in the top 150 on Battle.net for a long time during the StarCraft 2 beta testing. The Ukrainian Human player, Kas, won the most prestigious online tournament, Zotac, in Warcraft 3, and continues to win it in StarCraft 2. Although many top Warcraft players don't like StarCraft 2 and don't plan to switch to it.
Many pro gamers are switching to StarCraft II now because they get paid for it, while in Warcraft III, almost no one pays decent salaries anymore, and teams are disbanding one after another, forming rosters for StarCraft II.
They don't even care what they play, whether it's Warcraft or StarCraft, as long as they get paid. For example, if Blizzard suddenly organizes a Warcraft III tournament with a prize pool of $100,000, everyone will immediately drop StarCraft II and start playing Warcraft.
Money rules; where there's money, there's esports. =)
Wick, I've played with many StarCraft I players in Warcraft III, and I think they all showed decent results (Strelok, te4ka, etc.). It's not that difficult; it's just that in StarCraft, macro is key, and it's easier to play because there are no heroes, and you don't have to use such combo abilities as in Warcraft III. And there are no items there either. Who knows, opinions probably differ here. Personally, I tried StarCraft I, and I had enough skill for control, but I didn't know the builds and strategies, but that's easy to learn :D
By the way, we've strayed too far from the topic... what do Warcraft and StarCraft have to do with it? We were talking about Heroes!)))
Imagine if Ubisoft comes up with something and tries to promote Heroes 5 or 6 as an esport. That would be hilarious! But it's possible; they're currently making an MMORPG based on Heroes and a famous browser game. They have the money; they can... the question is whether Heroes 5-6 will be accepted as an esport. After reading reports from top players of the 5th installment, I was laughing. Our reports are written by noobs who have only played 10 online matches.))))
Everyone chooses the version that suits them best; it's their right, and arguing about which is better or worse is pointless.
It's like different denominations in religion: one considers themselves Catholic, another Orthodox, and a third might even embrace Buddhism.
For a long time, I didn't want to hear about VT, but now I've become a bit of a fan, so to speak.
Wouldn't it be better to just play your favorite version instead of trying to force humanity with an iron fist into a beautiful and happy future (I see this with Wicc)?
A few pages back, Qwerty was wondering which version is more appealing to viewers. So, this morning, before leaving for work, I checked out the beginning of the SOD newbie final, and when I got home in the evening, there were 116 participants. I played a match, and by midnight, the guys had already started their 4th week. With a chess timer, such a time crunch wouldn't be allowed.
One thing that was pleasing was the game played by Sevensan.
Roma, spectacle, and the game version are not necessarily related concepts. Many other factors play a role. For example, if players are using Paladin or Stinger, both Battle Tactics (BT) and Speed of Destruction (SOD) can be enjoyable to watch. It also depends on the map and the setup. There's a report on the forum where Peterius played for 28 hours. I wouldn't want to see a time-lapse of that!
I think they are related. With the Wargame timer and the standard time limit, these players would inevitably play more quickly.
Is it just the timer, or is it the version in general? The timer is also a double-edged sword. Some players accumulate +5000 seconds and then can play very slowly.
Well, since SOD doesn't have a timer yet, the issue lies in the version.
P.S. I caught myself thinking that in Seven's place, I would do the same – I would spend all 8 minutes to the fullest, I would send Necromancers into any battle to get at least a couple of skeletons, and I wouldn't rush in battles.

There are players who accumulate +5000 seconds and then can easily win.
And what's wrong with that? Actually, I don't remember such a case; usually, the opposite happens – there's a time crunch on the 2nd week.
