Nagan, make a list of players who play Heroes of Might and Magic II online.
At least over the internet.
Right now, I only see two – Predsa and Dusta.
And I play too, but mostly on GameRanger with foreigners. Online play for HoMM2 has died out, and it's almost impossible to find players online.
If we can make a list, then we can talk about meeting up in some city.
Okay, you've convinced me. I can't make a list because I play the third game myself.
But if you read my initial post, it was about something completely different.
And also – I mentioned the tournament in Kyiv (for the third game) in this thread. Just to be clear, whether you want to organize it or not, I don't owe you anything for it, and I don't have any obligations.
[SZOТ]I'll explain it better in person :)
Lesha, I'm afraid of poker. Not the game itself, but the consequences. For example, a player arrives at the championship. The first question is: "Where's the vodka?".
And then: "And... uh... where's the poker?". That's it, the guy is out of the championship. Usually, an entire group drops out of the championship right away.

Well, that's each person's responsibility, their priorities, and their discipline. I played poker with everyone, I drank, but I came to the club every morning for each session, even though it wasn't easy.
2 Dust. Lesha, let them play poker and drink vodka all night. But if a person is just having fun, demands attention like a guest, but at the same time neglects the tournament, then I don't need him. We had two private conversations about this, and I told him to leave. ;)
1. Elite.
Siberia: Dust, Mike. Questionable: Catch. "Dark horse" - Havr.
Moscow region: Preds, Brennan (I don't have contact with him, but Preds seems to be closer to him), Kama (I haven't been able to contact him yet). GreatGenius is very strong, but I haven't been able to contact him yet.
Saint Petersburg: SDV and DR28 are very strong players, the old guard led by Horn (many of them are very good at playing the second Heroes game, really at the level of the strongest players).
Ukraine: Navuchodonosor/Captain.
Other players:
Moscow region: Oxygen, Qwerty. For fairness in the tournament in Moscow, Antonplat may participate.
Other regions of Russia: Nagan-4.
Belarus: Yasnikov.
Bulgaria: Lovelass.
Region unknown, haven't played with them: Pash, Roms, Lavageth, and dozens of other people.

What kind of post moderation is this?
I wrote in post #32 of the topic...
Stop. I moderated only one post in the topic, #29, replacing one letter with three (d-o-l). At the same time, the meaning remained absolutely clear and was not distorted. No other post in the topic was moderated. Post #32 was not moderated; a report is provided about the moderation (you can see it in post #29).

Surely, out of this many people, we can gather at least 6?
And organize a small, but truly interesting tournament with a large, informative add-on?
Although such material would look great in a magazine, it would please many fans of strategy games - but as an alternative, posting it on a forum would be very good. It's more democratic, everyone has access to the save files, and there's less hassle with adhering to formalities.
In the post before last, I forgot about Gunnar; he's from St. Petersburg and plays well.
1. Implementing a large, informative add-on.
I think that with the help of more knowledgeable people, we can try to implement this in the following way.
A program that allows you to record video is installed on a laptop (like the replays in Heroes 3), and it is turned on. Also, an auto-save program is installed, which automatically makes saves after each turn (there seem to be such programs). Combining video from both sides with all the saves from both sides provides maximum information about the game, truly a lot of it.
2. Gathering 6 people. Theoretically possible. Dust, PRedS, DR28, SDV, Oxygen, Nagan-4. These are 6 people who, as I understand it, have expressed a preliminary desire to play. Moreover, if these six give a positive answer, it will be possible to look for 2-3 more people, because there probably won't be any particular problems with an even number.
There is another option, but it is highly questionable. St. Petersburg, with the involvement of local veteran monsters. And gather 8 mega-star players. I don't believe in this. Firstly, in home tournaments, there are many more missed games than in away tournaments. And a couple of people not showing up for a game can easily ruin the whole tournament. Secondly, St. Petersburg is quite expensive in terms of accommodation; food there is relatively cheap, but the travel... Thirdly, at the last moment, someone from the local players might drop out, and then everything might not turn out quite right.

Querty, I'm very glad that we agree on all issues in this matter. But it seemed to me from the discussion that the following is true.
You, PReDS, Oxygen - yes. I also agree, but I've only played Might and Magic 2 with players who are experienced in Heroes 3. Although, if necessary, I can learn and improve... but I'll still be the one who provides the meat and the points.
That's four people. Dust - if I have enough time to prepare in advance, I think that Lyosha will come. We might even chip in to cover his travel expenses to make it a little easier for him financially. Because a tournament with Dust and without him is a big difference, you know.
DR28, SDV - you speak highly of these guys, I saw medals under DR28's avatar. But how ready are they to come? Perhaps they discussed it in private, but it's not in the topic.
Of the remaining ones, I would invite Horn, Sasha is a great guy, we sometimes talk on the phone. I think he would be glad to see old league players.
I suggest we start from here. There are 4 people in Michurinsk. Plus, possibly Dust and Horn, plus possibly DR28, SDV.
Anyone who wants to can join. If there are better options (St. Petersburg, Moscow), suggest them, but only with a concrete discussion - accommodation, venue, meeting, organization.

It was indeed removed unnecessarily. This is correct moderation.
It seems that I didn't understand post 32.
Regarding me:
- I only played online with colleagues from work; I might not even know the basic things;
- I would be willing to come to the Moscow region; I don't know how long it would take or how much it would cost to get to the other suggested locations;
- I could pay for accommodation myself, although it would probably be cheaper if we split the cost;
- I don't have any literary data for reports.
Added 4 minutes later
Secondly, St. Petersburg is quite expensive in terms of accommodation; the food there is relatively cheap, but the travel...
If, for example, we rent an apartment, how much would it cost in different regions? I have some possibility of renting an apartment.
What kind of food are you talking about? I think shawarma or instant noodles... it costs about the same everywhere.
приведет в никуда. Карабкайтесь в гору чуть-чуть, только чтобы проверить, гора ли это. С вершины горы нельзя увидеть гору.
I'm not familiar with this region, haven't played with them: Lavageth
I would really like to see Horn, and if I could play with him, especially in G2, I wouldn't even dare to dream about it:rolleyes:

And we know your skill level; when SDV outperformed all the recognized top players in the very first tournament, and you are on par with him. I hope he returns from China with a heroic thirst for victory!
