Yes... We can argue for a long time about why the newer Heroes games are better. But I, and others, will still play Heroes 2 and 3. And it's hard to say exactly why... And I want to believe that nothing will ever be. It's an era. It's a legend. It's a World. Heroes 2 is valued for its rarity, but Heroes 3 is truly special. It's the greatest turn-based strategy game... There's no need to talk about Heroes 5 and Fallout 3. They are good in their own way. Heroes 4 was just awful, garbage... After that came Heroes 5. They are closer to Heroes 3. Really close. And that's a plus for them. Soon, people will forget about Heroes 3 and play Heroes 5 because it has a better combination of 3D graphics, game world, and mechanics. No matter how much we don't want it, the world is moving forward and looking at graphics... Part two, especially for those who are criticizing Fallout 3. Don't shout that it's bad!! When WoW (World of Warcraft) came out, no one shouted! Everyone said it was cool when they made a strategy/RPG from a 1.3 perspective. I've played Fallout 3 several times... I can't say that it doesn't captivate me... Graphics 5, Mechanics 5, Sound 5, of course, for those who like smart games, not just mindless hacking and slashing, like in Gears of War. Everything else is just an illusion, words are no more than that.
11 years is a long time for a game – if you add another 11 years, you'll remember the good old '86 – "Battleship" arcade machines, pocket "Electronics" with "Well, Just You Wait," and cassettes with games for the "Spectrum." Many probably haven't even heard of it, let alone played these wonders. What's the point of all this? Age turns out to be far from the most important thing. On this forum, the main driving force is Heroes 3, "the third game," the horsemen.") Hundreds of reports are written every season, many tournaments are actively held simultaneously, maps are drawn, and players are ready to travel who knows where to play against each other, meet, and chat... I honestly played Heroes 5 for a bit, but I dropped it completely; no turn-based strategy game can compare to the third installment.

Heroes 5 turned out to be very good, almost as a response to the disappointing Heroes 4, but... the third part is closer to my heart, somehow... I myself haven't been playing much lately, sometimes Heroes and the timeless Guilty Gear.

Heroes of Might and Magic III is the best! The balance between the factions is just perfect... after that, playing Heroes of Might and Magic V is unpleasant. There's no need to bash the fifth game. It certainly has its flaws. Yes, I agree that in some ways, the fifth game has degraded compared to the third, but there are also huge advantages, not only the graphics, but also the huge variety of skills, alternative upgrades, and racial abilities that made each race truly unique, and not just Necropolis, as in all previous parts.
As for the fourth game, the developers went in the wrong direction and got bogged down: this is NOT Heroes!
I'm afraid that the sixth game will degrade even more compared to the fifth, but it won't gain anything interesting, then I will still play the fifth.

You're wrong about Heroes of Might and Magic IV. Its only drawback is the AI level. But if you play against another player (which seems to be the intended way), it's actually quite good. And the balance isn't broken in any way. You can't call it a continuation of the series, but as a standalone game, it's very good. You just need to get used to it, instead of giving up after three losses to the AI and calling it a disgrace.

I like Heroes of Might and Magic IV more than Heroes of Might and Magic V. But Heroes of Might and Magic III has no competition and probably never will. :)

The third game is a masterpiece, and it's unlikely that any other game in the series will surpass it. Fourth, I really liked the editor with its wide range of possibilities; the scripts are something else entirely. The fifth game is simply for relaxation and visual enjoyment. Like most modern games, it focuses on graphics and forgets about gameplay.

Personally, I only played Heroes 5 for the beautiful battle graphics and unit images. When I wanted to play, I played the third game.
