How do I set up the random option so that when playing multiplayer (hot seat mode), I can be allied with the second player? I can't seem to figure it out...

If there are two of you, set the number of players to 2 in the map settings, teams to 1, computers to 6, and teams to "however many you need." That's all there is to it. :)

I created the initial files, and a random map appeared, but I can't figure out how to create a map for, say, a 2x2 or 2x4 game, where two players can play against bots in a "hot seat" mode. But I just can't seem to create it! As mentioned above, I did everything, but the alliance still doesn't appear.

Guys, help me! It won't create maps! I've put all four zero files into the SoD, and I've done everything as it should be... The menu for creating random maps appears, but when you click "start," it says "cannot create random_map.h3m in the data directory." What's going on? It's probably something I need to change on my computer, but I have no idea what to change; I've checked everything!

Spark, just put the "random_maps" folder in the root directory. And everything will be okay.

Well, that folder is already in the root directory. And there are 15 more files in it. I don't understand why it's not working. I also created zero-sized files, but it didn't help. Maybe I should just put these generated maps from the internet into the random_maps folder? Or how should I do it?

R55Max, I have two more ideas regarding your problem.
1. Create a random map in the map editor (for this, SoD must have a patch installed; see the relevant topic /topic/3165/). If it is created, copy the map to MAPS and open it in the game.
2. Try deleting the RMG.TXT file (if it already exists) and moving it to the Recycle Bin: for some reason, everything works fine without it, but with it, random maps do not want to be created. If that doesn't help, restore RMG.TXT.

It seems that the map parameters you've set are not compatible with the template.
Each template has its own parameters - map size, number of players. Check the parameters of the template and choose a template with the desired parameters, instead of the one that is selected by default.

I'm creating a random map, the goal is to kill a monster, without AI opponents, single player... the map has no water, G. In the specifications, I allow all heroes. Question: why, when I enter the game and try to start playing, only half of all the heroes are available (the Rampart faction, but the problem extends to all factions)? The editor and the game are from HOTA, the latest version.

Is there a pattern to half of them being available? Perhaps only warriors or only mages are available? And how did you determine availability? In the game (I don't know about HOTA), only up to 8 heroes can be active on the map; the rest can only sit "hidden" in the garrisons of cities.
Please provide/show the names of the heroes available to you in any way that is convenient for you (words, screenshots, video).
