I confirm that the large person in the photo is me :) We had a great time together. Only, I did warn that I shouldn't mix beer with vodka :rolleyes: But the vodka ran out, so I had to wash it down with beer. In the end, I barely managed to stay until the final rout in my game, but I didn't last until the end of the parallel match, just like everyone else :D
Dust and Dirty played a smku, while Valenok and I fought on Jebus Cross Conflux vs Rampart. My first super-mega-chocolate setup with a bunch of conservatories and hives he restarted. In the other one, I got a poorer setup, but there were external dwellings, especially the birds that pleased me. Who knows how things would have turned out if there hadn't been a direct path from his spawn to mine without a treasure zone. It was awesome. At the beginning of the second game, he showed up unexpectedly with 38 Wyverns. Not even the fact that I snatched a level 3 conservatory right from under his nose helped me. He attacked, I (fortunately, I had a ton of gold) bought my way out. For decency's sake, I ran around a bit, but in the end, Ivor again caught up with Monere and gave him a full beating :)
We played both games on VT. There were no disconnects :D The only question is, when simultaneous turns are implemented, will we be able to use them in hot-seat? :D
We had a good time, it's just a shame it was short :) When my opponent was taking his turn, we usually watched the other pair's game. By the way, the Dirty - Dust game was very interesting. Kostya even built a second Capitol :D
I really want to come to Michurinsk, but it seems more likely that the Russian national team will become the 2010 FIFA World Cup champion... It's a real shame... :(

The qualifying rounds have started in the Michurinsk tournament, featuring both newcomers and experienced players who love the game but don't have much time to dedicate to mastering its intricacies. So far, 12 people have signed up, and the first results are in. There's not much to comment on, as the level of play is not very high, but I will be posting updates regularly. Gradually, stronger players from the community will join the best of them, and it will all culminate in a grand final, as mentioned above.

I suggested writing a comprehensive chronicle of club tournaments, starting from 2000, as they emerged: first and foremost, St. Petersburg, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Michurinsk, Moscow, Minsk, and Krasnodar. No one could write it better than the people who organized these pockets of Heroes gaming life across the country; it would be a fantastic project.
So far, I haven't found enough support.

2 Dust. I'm definitely good on the accommodation front. A large room with two double sofas will be enough for four people. You already have the biggest expenses among all the guests.

And we might have a great group – 3-4 people from Siberia, I'll invite 3-4 from Yekaterinburg – to see my champions. Hopefully, they didn't vote for Michurinsk for nothing. Two from Tambov, two from Oskol, possibly two from Cheboksary. 2-3 from St. Petersburg, 2-3 from Moscow, and three more solo players have expressed interest. That's 19 to 23 guests, and they're all strong players. If we add the local crowd, it'll be like a mini-Krasnodar.
I'm not just pulling these numbers out of thin air – I'm talking about specific Heroes of Might and Magic nicknames of experienced players who have expressed a desire to play in Michurinsk.
The main thing is for everyone to coordinate and come. The more people, the better.

Also, about the club. I talked to the admins, 2500 rubles – that's the daily rental fee for the club, and 7500 for three days. It's easier to rent the whole club for three days; the more people, the cheaper it will be per person, maybe around 350 rubles per person for three days.

About the hotel. Damn, they raised the prices again, now it's 1000 rubles per day.
So, if someone arrives on Friday morning, they'll stay in the hotel for Friday and Saturday, two days.
On Sunday morning, they'll check out and leave their belongings at the club, all set. It's convenient; they can leave in the evening, and their belongings will be safe and secure.
The total cost for the hotel is 2000 rubles.
The hotel is quite decent, a five-story building. The rooms for the Heroes of Might and Magic players will be located in one wing, close together, so it's easier to visit each other. The director is a good friend of mine, so there won't be any problems with the staff, even if someone stays out late in the city.

About the prize pool. Let's make it 1500 rubles. There will definitely be 20 people at the championship, which is 1000 bucks. The first prize at the CIS championship in Krasnodar was the same.
For three days, and considering they'll be having fun with the Heroes of Might and Magic community, it's a good prize for the winner.

Tournament expenses. Let's calculate: 2000 + 1500 + 350 = 3850 rubles. That's the cost for the club, accommodation, and tournament fees. Some people will stay with me, and some won't register for the tournament and will just come to hang out, so the actual expenses will be lower.

And, of course, some money will be spent on socializing (hopefully, it doesn't turn into mass riots). In our city, everything is quite cheap (food, drinks, and clubs) compared to many other cities I've been to, so the expenses won't be too high.

If all the guests decide to come, we'll have a lot to write about on the forum.

The tournaments have different goals. It's clear that there were many players from St. Petersburg and Moscow in the CIS final because the level of play in these circles is higher.

But in Michurinsk, everyone has an equal opportunity. It used to be great, traveling to different championships, and having people come to visit you. Heroes players knew each other well, knew each other's true skill level, even down to their family and work situations, so there was always something to talk about when they met.

Then, club tournaments became tiresome for the top players in the Heroes world (5-6 a year, or even more), especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and the internet appeared.
It's been 5 years since club tournaments died out, and people are craving live interaction. A whole generation of players has grown up who have only read about the great Krasnodar and St. Petersburg club tournaments, and they want to try what a live tournament and live interaction are like.
