Act VI – Reflection
Scene one.A small, dark room. Most of it is occupied by a rack on which
Ellina is stretched; she quietly cries.
Morning stands nearby and operates the rack. Through pain and tears, the girl asks when the torture will end, to which
Morning replies: “When I let you go? Ha! Only when trees grow eyes will I let you go! Until dawn, I will be your spiritual guide. You still have many tortures ahead – you won't get away with just a simple drowning chair anymore!” After that, he falls silent and begins to untie the victim.
Ellina looks at him in the face; his suddenly glassy eyes frighten her. He removes all the ropes and turns to dust. The girl runs away.
Scene two.A house on the outskirts of the forest. An uninvited guest quietly enters; he approaches the bed where Forester
Nebo sleeps soundly. The stranger examines the victim for some time, but the result of the examination does not satisfy him. A sharp blade pierces the forester’s neck; a stifled gasp and the sound of a closing door are heard. A few minutes later, another guest arrives; he approaches the body, reads aloud verses in a strange language, pours blue glowing liquid over the body, and leaves as quickly as the first visitor did.
Scene three.Early morning, a small lake in the forest. Pirate
WisTrit sits by the shore with a fishing rod, lost in thought. Suddenly, the lake turns a poisonous green color; the pirate hastily gathers his fishing gear and heads into town. On the way, he meets a running girl in tattered clothes; the pirate recognizes her as
Ellina. The tavern owner tries to get to her tavern as soon as possible; she can already see it among the trees. Two old friends – a madman and a monk – are waiting for her near the tavern; the girl is even glad to see them; she wants to forget the nightmare of the night as soon as possible. Someone has attached a note to the tavern door:
I ran out of matches, my lighter broke.
P.S.: Dear residents, could you please rub yourselves with spices at night?
(Sincerely, your forever Maniac)
