So, the Kyiv tournament is over. Our champion, Aldegyr, played 3 games and won all 3, including against Forrest...

Forrest (castle, marshland) def Javdet (castle, valeska) 1-2-3 Roma won all the restarts. As a result, he had a Tier 5 army with three units and two buildings. Corridors. He barely found enough money for a hydra with a citadel and to upgrade his flies. He took a castle and his native secondary town. He found 4 trees. On 1-2-1, he takes the maximum with 2 hydras, 4 geese, and a sacrifice. Then he destroys and gets the 8th tree on the respawn. As a result, 23 geese. He prepares to destroy and take two more trees that day (12+8 would be 43 geese on 1-2-4). But Roma decided not to drag it out and surrendered. Respect to him for that! Most people played only two rounds. Kostyan and I have 1 point each out of two, and a save on 123. Ideally, we should finish the remaining games online.

Impressions of the meetup are purely positive, the only disappointment being that it all ended very quickly :(. Ideally, such tournament meetups should take 4-5 days. Thanks to Sasha-Navuh for organizing, everything was smooth :). Finally got to see "in the flesh" those I had known remotely for a long time :).

A brief overview of my games:

Lost to Aldegir without any chance. I took a rest on a good layout — thought his was even better. And of course I was punished by landing in complete garbage. A small, gold-less respawn. One road to GO, on the second block of lotza eyes and a pack of snipers, on the third — lotza eyes again. I clear it, only 18 marks left. I push further — horde of halberdiers. Skip a day, bring up swordsmen, clear it — further lotza liches :(. Only built 4 levels in the Stronghold. On the second week things started to improve a bit, but my opponent had chocolate, and on 131 he came through GO and took my castle.

In the second game I played with Petya — Piterius. Gave him red Conflux, took blue rampart and Kyrre myself. Restarted for a long time, ultimately I got chocolate in the form of a huge respawn with two external elf dwellings, a Dragon Utopia on the respawn, Galtran in the tavern (he became the main hero), a secondary dungeon with an external dragon dwelling. In short, even I couldn't fumble such a layout (haven't played SoD for 4.5 years, TE for 1.5). At the end of the third week in a swamp treasury I found a chalice +6 all, on 141 I took a tier-3 Dragon Utopia with a sword all +5, cuirass +4+4, and a book of earth :eek: . Straight-up TE-style Dragon Utopia :). Petya took risks to catch up to me in stats, but couldn't beat the max Dragon Utopia and lost. Though, I think even if he had taken it, his chances wouldn't have been very high...

So, I'll share my impressions as well. I really liked the tournament. I saw my idol Forrest in real life, from whose posts I collected information bit by bit and learned to play -))) and I met other great players and just good people!

Lost the first game to Javdet

The generator was ironically joking with me. Rома got from the start 4 marksmen, no more rests, I got 2 external dwellings of lizardmen and a strong start. Seemed like go and kill. Considering that in the tavern I see about 14 Griffins and 7 Knights and a handful of cents (I don't remember exactly by eye, unfortunately without screenshots). His secondary was revealed by Rampart only from the scout's view, but there's no passage. The map was generated buggily. As a result, I thought that the only meeting with the opponent would be through the Monster Town. (It turned out later that you could go through the left flank in such a nook that I never would have thought of, near the metro and my respawn border). I didn't bother spending time checking this idea, as there was no wood and I was rushing to the secondary to develop.

I messed up with the moves, built a Citadel, and then found some more gold and decided to build Hydras, exchanging all resources on the market in the secondary. That cost me 3 days of tempo. I was hovering around the Dwarf Cottage at 20k but was afraid to take it. I took the Dwarf Cottage, then the Conservatory 3, where I lost everything except 2 Hydras and a handful of Lizardmen (I generally thought it would be a loss). Well, then with 3 Angels it became much more fun! I entered the treasure zone, killed a group of Nagas for 15k experience, then took a tree for 6 Wyverns. Scouts bring amazing news from the adjacent treasure zone, Conservatory, Wings, and 2 trees I think. I break back home, buy a spell book for Expert Earth and Slow in a scroll. Not bad. Found Boots of Haste in a grave!! attacked a crowd of Scorpicores (almost Horde) for the Wings. I've never seen such morale and ability procs. Every turn was morale and paralysis. But I didn't kill anyone except singles, because Tazar is Tazar. So I took a couple more trees, ending up with 17 Wyverns. There was a Sword of Justice behind a horde of upgraded Efreets and some kind of hat, I didn't go in of course, because I'm very afraid of them. Oh yeah, I also took a Conservatory in the treasure zone at the end for 4 Angels.

Well, then I ran to the Monster Town, wanted to take the Castle on 137, but was dumb and got stuck on the way. On 136, 4+3 Angels right near the Monster Town. I didn't capture the Cloak of Resistance at my own respawn behind a crowd of Monks (being dumb with magic again). Well, and Gunnar came and hit with Implosion, which surprised me a lot, as I thought the opponent's tempo was very bad and he was unlikely to take a Dragon Utopia. I bought myself out (15k gold from Pandora gave).

I scurried back and forth and surrendered.

Second game vs Sem56.

Start with 33 archers, there is an external dwelling but behind a crowd of Pit Lords. 2 Conservatories, gold lying around normally, only trouble is the Monster Town via roadless terrain.

Up is the native secondary, but behind a crowd of Medusas. At the Barbarian secondary is a group of Sharpshooters. A start of nothing, 15 Gnolls I think. Wanted to surrender. Then I decided to break through the Medusas, but thought I'd lose, so I decided that if they don't come right away, I'd have chances. And to fight the Medusas on 121. Wyverns in fort without Wasp. Taz level 3, shame.

On 121 I buy what I can, 4 Wyverns, I upgrade Dragonflies, they killed 10 of them(

I go further, there's another external dwelling of Wyverns!!! Well, that's more fun!!

At the end in the secondary there are Wyverns, at home the Citadel. I cleared a tree behind a crowd of grand Djinns. Lost a Wyvern but nothing else to take with. Was dumb. Took the Dwarf Cottage and Medusa Cottage. On 131 a tree, then into the treasure zone, cleared 2 beehives. Then went home, took Conservatory 1, cleared an external dwelling of Wyverns with a cape. On the fourth I took a Dragon Utopia 2, Air book and Blue Hat. I was just thinking of breaking back and going to the opponent when he came out himself, where I successfully finished him off. Though I had to worry. I upgraded Wyverns (54 of them I think). Then a Ring of Speed +1. I also took... brought the army, but didn't leave money for buying them out. Idiot. Traded 15 wood and ore, got 2600, nothing more was left. Attacked, and he had KS 16, I thought they'd blast me with Implosion and I'd be shocked, but from magic there was only Arrow and Magic Arrow.

Respect to Navuh and Sema, as organizers, everything went great.

Had a good laugh at Beshi of course. You had to see it. How he was insisting to the sysadmin that he's an idiot etc. :D :D :D and many other things :D.

I forgot my notebook at home with all the results. :( Tomorrow I'll post everything – we'll see who needs to finish their games, and who's already clear. :) But it was really awesome to meet everyone! Thanks to everyone who came!

Day one.
Arrived together with Mr. X in Kyiv at 7 AM, settled in, and headed to ГО:) . Seme, Aldegir, and NEO were already waiting there; about 10 minutes later, Kreg and Kostyan showed up. The latter tried to guess who was who by their nicknames, but didn't identify anyone:) . Kep joined in; it was fun, we chatted and joked. It got even more fun when Besha appeared on the horizon, along with Forrest, Volodimir, and Armagedda. Besha greeted everyone and immediately began overwhelming a few local guys who happened to be nearby with his poetic talent. In short, from that impromptu streetwise rap, they probably learned a lot of new and unknown things about themselves and the world, and undoubtedly gained respect for the northern guest, since they were in close contact both days:) Although, I admit, I expected Besha with a guitar and at least a couple of his songs:) , but on those days he shone with boldness, telling everyone exactly what he thought of them! :smile13:
We entered the club, where Leader and Dzhavdet appeared in the unnoticed bustle. It started around 10:30. The draw gave me Kreg. Considering the fact that Kreg once won one of the tournaments in Kyiv, I was a bit tense. We both rolled everything; in the end, I got a corner respawn with a decent amount of money — hydras in the Castle seemed doable by my estimates. There were 2 passages to the secondary zones, both guarded by 10-19 zealots. And then, when there was nothing left to do on the respawn on day 117, I wasted all the first week's potential with Gunnar (advanced tactics) — there was hope for home ground, but it didn't work out; no auto-request, it's a tournament after all. I put cows instead of hydras; on day 121, I bought everything I could, broke through a stack of 17 gr. ogres onto grass, and charged into max gnome territory without Visions — I played the battle terribly, plus the gnomes' morale — only 5 cows left:mad: . I took the secondary Rampart, cleared the respawn, took revenge on some zealots, and slashed others in the metro, but right then the passage was held by 10-19 manticores behind the club — it was day 127; I was stuck at the choke point before them, while the army was heading to the Medusa nest, which turned out to have 8, some upgraded; I froze them all. I didn't continue further.
I hugged it out with Besha; as it turned out, he didn't recognize me at first because I had shaved off my beard and mustache! He kept teasing me about it for both days:)
I played the second game with Arma, and we rolled for it until the football match itself.

On the way to the pub, we lost Besha:D Only he knows where he wandered off to, but he showed up only by the end of the match and immediately rushed to seek adventures for his own reckless head and others'. In short, we got away with a broken chair. The football itself was magnificent; plus, considering the overall friendly atmosphere, watching it was no worse than in the stadium. We really cheered loudly, and it was worth it! Our team won! One fact surprised me — none of the 15 people SMOKED! But they all drank a lot of beer!:) After the match, everyone was in a good mood and headed to their accommodations, but… the ubiquitous Besha… managed to injure his leg at the metro entrance; he couldn't walk by that evening, and naturally, they wouldn't let him into the metro! So they carried him like a king to Kreg's place in their arms!

Day two.
By around 9, almost everyone had gathered — the desire to play was that strong! Due to technical issues, the computers weren't working; we skipped about an hour, but we finally started. Again, I rolled with Arma for about an hour and a half to choose a mutually acceptable respawn, until we got tired of it and decided to play any random setup. I got a weak and cash-poor position. In the first week, I got distracted discussing my moves with Kep and didn't manage to build in time, ending up with psychos in the Fort. I gathered 5 angels and 15 ducks, found boots and wings, broke through the guard with two duck stacks — both maxed. The lack of money and Gosha's parameters prompted me to take risks, though probably in vain.
Then I did some analysis of the games; many of the things I did were unclear to me; I guess I was just burned out. But a game is a game.
I sat down to play the third game with Rebellius. We managed to play one week, during which I put bears in the Castle, and he put nagas in the Castle. By that time, besides us, the only remaining players were the pair Kostyan-Arma; the rest had either left or were sharing experience in conversations outside. Finally, at 21:45, all those left gathered and went to the train station — some to leave, some to see them off.
I really enjoyed everything (except for my own results). I got a lot of positive energy from the communication; everything was well organized. I would come again, yeah. But probably need about 3 days — that would be just right, while 2 is a bit short, imho.

Alright, I finally got around to writing my general little report on the impressions)). And the impressions, I must say, are just AMAZING! The only real thing to regret is that there was too little time for both games and chatting, 4-5 days as someone said might have been enough, but not less!...))
So, I arrived on Friday at 2 PM, immediately recognized Sam by his voice on the platform)), he gave me a lift to the metro, for which he definitely gets a beer from me at the next meet-up (honestly, forgot about it this time..:o )! We went into the club, I looked around – seemed alright, it'll do). Then we got through to a really cool guy – KregHek, who promised to put a couple of people up at his place. We hung out at Maidan Nezalezhnosti, chatted about life and Heroes. At 5 we met up with Kreg, aka in real life – Lyokha, Sam even walked with us to the very entrance kind of to supervise, so this suspicious character wouldn't take me anywhere:D (well actually, to know where to lead the "homeless" tomorrow:) ). Got settled in fine there, fell asleep early, because a stressful day was ahead.

On Saturday, it all started with a can of Red Bull, which Lyokha bought to think clearer and crush everyone, because his life principle is "there are no fathers!":cool: . Approaching the "Matrix" club, we saw a circle of Heroes players already, started getting acquainted. I immediately tried to guess who was who: I guessed Neo right on the first try, and I think Aldegir, but I messed up with Rebellius and Piterius…:rolleyes: But that's okay, they said you'll figure out who's who during the game)). Captain showed up, immediately recognized by everyone unanimously, even though almost no one had seen him before)). Then the rest trickled in, I especially remember Besha's "entrance" with a 2-liter bottle of beer in his hand, which he then offered everyone to finish. Some local hip-hopper started something like a rap battle with him (too bad I'm not very into that), unfortunately I couldn't see it through to find out who won)), because we were already heading down to the club for the draw. We did the draw by pulling pieces of paper with nicknames out of a relic hat +2/-10 – Besha's cap)). Happy hand of portal master NeoEndy decided we'd play against Sam56, we were both glad it wasn't Forrest:D. And I even got the "cheater" red color. Overall, I think my drafting went well. And I played, though not at my absolute limit, but for my level about a 4+ somewhere. I won't repeat the report. I'll only say that in the final, skills from ToE3, which Roma had never played, really helped me out. In general, I was very lucky in that the neighbor at the computer on my left turned out to be Forrest himself, and that by glancing at his game, I didn't seriously mess up my own)). Funny (or not so much…:confused: ): Besha sleeping on the keyboard for a duration of 2 tech pauses! In general, I'll tell you a secret, I imagined Besha as a little bald guy, like a young Shnur, but it turns out quite different!..:) . Then there was a trip to a bar on Kontraktova Square for the football match. I can't even compare anything to those emotions!:smile02: I liked the commentary on the football action from Tolyan (Forrest), everything he says is geared towards "Heroes": "the post" – expert resistance, reckless attack – that's like under the Frenzy spell. We sat in cramped quarters, but no hard feelings, we shouted louder than at the stadium, even broke chairs, but that's a slightly different story…) After the football, we helped our "injured" comrade – Besha get to his lodging (he twisted his ankle), there was a great scene where the strongman Kreg hoisted him onto his shoulder and casually walked up the stairs, too bad there was no camera handy((. At Kreg's place, after calming down our Belarusian guest, by around 12-1 AM we fell asleep in a heap, wherever: one Lyokha – Verki (the referee, portalite) – on the floor, the second Lyokha – Besha – on the owner's bed)), the 3rd Lyokha – KregHek – wherever he could; while Roma – Dzhavdet, had long since prudently fallen asleep, knowing that tomorrow he had a serious fight with KostyaN ahead, and not getting enough sleep would be more costly for him)).

In the morning, we immediately made referee Verki flip a coin to decide who plays which color, red came up for me again – what's this, freebie though)… But my draft was "above all praise" – I gave Dzhavdet his beloved Kyrre!..:eek: The nasty rain couldn't spoil our fighting spirit, though there was no light in the club and we had to go have breakfast at "Puzata Khata", where the prices are just "cosmic", meaning unreal)): we have even more expensive in Nikopol! You can eat your fill for 30-40 UAH (up to 200 RUB) with an extensive menu and it's generally convenient (I'm citing these figures to argue for Kyiv as the venue for the main final)! Besha treated everyone to beer, whether they wanted it or not, everyone had to drink). The game against Roma2 – Dzhavdet, didn't go very well for me, and the pace was a bit slow, although I already had 2 champions by week 1 month 1, and losing a good half of my army in a max Griffin Conservatory at the start of week 3 didn't help my chances of winning. I leveled Dessa and realized how hard it is to play a mage daddy… Report maybe later, if Roma writes one. Finishing the fastest, Dzhavdet and I went to lunch, had a normal sort of "heart-to-heart" talk. I watched Besha's ongoing bad luck – losing to week 1 guards, sympathized, and Lyokha even offered to make a couple of moves for him)). Later, the restless Minsker brought out a small bottle of "Honey with Pepper" vodka and started strongly recommending it to everyone, nobody wanted any (I generally don't touch vodka…:smile43: ), but in the end everyone took a sip to Dzhavdet's words: "When else will you get such a chance – to drink with Besha himself?":smile30: It was already getting late, and I had a train, but we started with Armageddon, I took that damn Castle again, but by week 1 month 2 my development is generally stable, so there are still some chances)). At 10 PM we went in a crowd to the station, because 3-4 people were definitely leaving on the same train, and Forrest and Volodimir also volunteered to see us off. And I, meanwhile, needed to be at my Diploma defense at 9 AM sharp like a bayonet. In the end, the first scout hero with Logistics – the train – delivered KostyaN with his bag to Dnipro at 6:12 AM, in Dnipro the second scout hero – city marshrutka – delivered him to the bus station at 6:20, the third scout hero – intercity marshrutka – delivered him to Nikopol at 8:35, and the fourth scout hero – a taxi – with a detour to the main building for the defense delivered him to MAUP (my university) at 9:00 AM – just in time for the final, where I killed the enemy in the 1st round: 5 points for the Diploma!!!:smile02: :cool: :smile23:
