You just need a huge amount of wood. That's why tigers!

Elf-Griffin-Dragon. The Elves are the only ranged units there (if you don't count those in the Portal), so you can't do without them. And Griffins and Dragons are powerful units. In the Portal, I hire either Mantises (to take on expeditions) or those... what are they called... Hive-"Flowers" (they're perfect for defense!).

I prefer tigers, but if trees are everywhere, why not?

What happened? I tried it myself, and in the first army, nothing was left!

Most often, it's an elf-unicorn-dragon combination, but I sometimes allow other combinations. However, a dragon is always present!

In the portal, I usually hire either mantises (to take on expeditions) or those... what are they called... hive-"flowers" (they're perfect for defense!).

Personally, I think water elementals are better for defense. They have both attack (icy arrow) and defense (slowdown and quicksand) capabilities.

Overall, the portal is a great thing! It's awesome!

I'm going with Elf-Griffin-Dragon. Elves attack twice, and the first attack counts as the first strike. The Griffin has an infinite number of retaliations, and the Dragon has spells.

Elves may die quickly and are weaker in melee combat than tigers... but again, no one forbids using them as a living shield! :D And why let tigers get so close in the first place?! :D Besides, I simply prefer elves, even though I also like cats! :)
For the griffin, we cast the first strike spell and vampire touch (if possible) and send it right into the thick of the battle! :D And unicorns can't fly.
Griffin:
Damage: 16-22 Attack: 18
Health: 95 Defense: 18
Movement: 40 Speed: 6

Price: 800 Growth: 4

Unicorn:
Damage: 12-20 Attack: 20
Health: 80 Defense: 20
Movement: 30 Speed: 6

Price: 650 Growth: 5

Conclusion: The griffin only loses in terms of growth, attack, and defense (I didn't mention the price because if it also had a growth rate of 5 per week, it would also cost 650 gold!) :D
And another drawback: spider web arrows haven't been canceled yet! :(

But the dragon can cast spells! And with its confusion spell, it can, for example, hold back a phoenix while the elves harass it! :D

And you're wrong about the dogs; they are also a unit! Two attacks are not given to everyone, and they move quickly! :cool:

And I'll repeat once again that you need to develop your strategy individually for each castle (i.e., don't just memorize: on turn 1, go to the tavern and hire a second hero, on turn 2... on turn..., gather 20 wood, and then build a ranger guild, and so on). Because magical dragons will fight worse against black dragons; it's better to get phoenixes. And so on, and so forth.

I'm also an elf-griffin-dragon... I think this is the best combination for quickly leveling up a hero, especially a mage.

I basically agree that the griffin is better than the unicorn. Because there is an artifact: a helmet that gives immunity to blindness, and it appears very often, even in a chest.
But we can argue about the elf; tigers are also cool, and they are easier to obtain.

Yes. Tigers are a great unit, but even though they move quickly, you can still slow them down, and by the time they reach you, their numbers will have decreased! :D
And about Phoenixes and Black Dragons – that's obvious to everyone! But again, you can use a Dragon to defeat the rest of the army, while other creatures deal with the Black Dragon! :D :cool:
