Reviews and overviews:
Game Informer magazine gave the game a score of 9.25, noting the high-quality sound effects, the ability to replay the game multiple times, and its ease of use. "The only reason you might not like the game," writes Game Informer, "is if you hate the movies."
The popular foreign video game website GameSpot praised the good plot, gameplay, and called the game "one of the best action games of 2001." When compared to the first game in the series, despite numerous improvements, it was noted that the multiplayer mode had become less functional, and the network code could cause problems even with a broadband connection.
GameSpy called the game's technical aspects its main drawback. The graphics engine did not showcase advanced technologies, the level detail and character animation were of poor quality, and there were problems with online play. Among the positive aspects were the sound, the atmosphere-enhancing lighting, and the plot.
The foreign gaming portal IGN gave the game a score of 8.2, writing: "This is a great game, but they should have sent more marines to clear out all the bugs before release" (a play on words: English "bugs" translates to both "bugs" and "glitches"). When assigning an overall rating, the game's strengths were named as its graphics (9.0/10) and sound (9.5), but the gameplay received a score of only 7.5/10: critics accused the developers of having too many in-game bugs.

The Russian portal Absolute Games noted the good plot, graphics, and sound, and despite some of the game's shortcomings, gave it a 90% rating.

The magazine "Igomaniya" placed the game in second place in the "Best 3D Action Game of 2001" category, calling it a "perfectly polished product," "the best in terms of atmosphere this year," and pointing out the high-quality graphics, plot, and Multiplayer as the game's strengths.
