Actually, you need a HUGE amount of wood to build Elves, so I don't build them very often.
If there's not enough wood, I build Tigers instead so as not to slow down production...

And who summons what in the portal?
I like water elementals and flowers.

If it's in my own portal, I usually keep mantises...
but if I capture an enemy town and there's a portal there (and it hasn't been bought back), I buy it out and leave it to defend the castle...

Their Mantis units have a lower growth rate, and I think they are weaker than Phoenixes; flower-based units might be a better choice.

They have the same growth rate as the Praying Mantis, but it seems weaker than the Phoenix, so the Flowerfolk might be better.

MUCH better, BUT are you planning to use them as your main force? There won't be enough logistics to support them in an army. I think they have the slowest speed in the game :(

same thing, just from a different angle... water elementals are great units, but they're quite slow... they move around like weights tied to your feet.
So, it turns out that: Griffins, Phoenixes, and Manticores – they all fly...

But if you hire a hero, there are no problems! ...and I either use Mantises or Water Elementals!

I mean that everything flies and doesn't slow down the hero... but Water Elementals are still slow...

I don't think it lags. And I don't like air units!

Following up on the topic of who can defeat a Barbarian: Today, we played a game where I used Barbarians against the Haven faction, and we decided to have a one-on-one fight between my Barbarian and their Knight. And who do you think won? The Knight cast "Dragon's Might" (level 5) on himself and something else, and the Barbarian died despite having a dozen potions of immortality and some decent artifacts.

Sorry, but the Dragon's power doesn't help! And if the Barbarian also has bottles, there's no chance!

are you saying that the Barbarian should have won?
