Today, a question arose.
In Equilibris, there is a Chaos school spell called "Smoke." (Reduces all ranged attacks passing through it by 50%).
I've tried using it a few times, more for testing than for real benefit. However, there were no results! Maybe I'm not choosing the right position to create the smoke cloud, or is it a bug? In general, how can I get the maximum effect from this spell?
Does anyone know? Please share. I really need to! :o

From what I understand, based on my experience using it, Smoke isn't so much a spell in the traditional sense, but rather an obstacle. In essence, it's a spell that creates an obstacle for ranged attackers. Unlike Mirage, which provides a +50% bonus to the target's ranged defense, Smoke doesn't affect damage at all. It simply causes arrows to "break" if fired through it. For example, it was shown that a shot would deal full damage, but when fired through smoke, the arrow broke and only dealt 1/2 damage. Here's an example of Smoke in action: In the army, there are two archers. The top archer has Ranged Attack skill level 3 (ignoring obstacles and distance), and the bottom archer has Ranged Attack skill level 1. In the middle is a mage with Smoke. 1) A normal attack from the archer with Ranged Attack skill level 1. As you can see, the arrow is damaged, dealing 1/2 damage. 2) An attack from the same archer, but now targeting a unit obscured by smoke. As you can see, it deals 1/4 damage. 3) A normal attack from the archer with Ranged Attack skill level 3. There are no issues here; the arrow flies straight. 4) An attack from the same archer, but targeting a unit obscured by smoke. As you can see, there is no change. That's all there is to it. Smoke is just a regular obstacle

Guys, can anyone share a patch and instructions on how to play Heroes 4 online?

First of all, do you have the original Heroes or the spin-off versions? If it's the spin-off, you don't need any patches. :)
To play online, you need to download and install the Hamachi program (download). Then, join an existing network (look in any of the online tournament threads for Heroes 4; you'll find the network name and password there), or create your own.
Agree with someone on a game. In Hamachi, each player has an IP address listed (next to their nickname). The main thing is that you and your opponent are in the same network. Then, agree on who will be the host (the person creating the game). If it's you, launch Heroes, click "Network Game," then "Create Game," then select "via TCP/IP." A window will appear where you can give the server a name (optional), enter your name/nickname, and specify the number of players. Then, click "Create" and select the desired map or save file. And wait for your opponent. When they join, choose races, colors, game difficulty, time, and whether a password is needed for the game. And you, as the host, start the game.
If your opponent is creating the game, in the launched Heroes, go to "Network Game," then "Join Game," then "TCP/IP." In the window that appears, enter your opponent's IP address, which you'll see in Hamachi next to their nickname, and click "Join." Then, choose a race and wait for them to start the game. :)

Guys, can someone share a patch and instructions on how to play Heroes 4 online?

Install Equi, and you'll be happy. If you have the original version, you'll need either Vortex/Storm (you know where to get it), or the patch is in the same place as Equi – after that, Equi should work with the original version. Also, if you really want to play the original version, you can get a patch for online play from Buka.
And then, either use Hamachi, or enter direct IP addresses if you have them. Hamachi is an emulator of a local network within a global network (the internet), so if you're going to play on a local network, you don't need Hamachi.

Friends, I don't understand how to transfer resources to your ally. I went to the market, and there you can only exchange them for yourself. I searched everywhere, but couldn't find anything. Can you help me, or maybe they removed this option? :smile06:

well, there's an option in the menu :) just look a little more carefully and you'll find it.

2 Vitter, you click on the flag in the right part of the screen and then click on the trade button. That's all there is to it.

Today, my friend and I tried to play online via TCP; I think I entered the IP address correctly, but I couldn't see any server. How can we actually play? Maybe we need an additional utility? :confused:
