I have a feeling I'm about to get reamed. Remember the "Best Artist" contest this spring? They promised to hold it more often than once a year... maybe we could have one for the winter holidays too?;) If no one wants to organize it, you could even force me to do it) although it's probably better not to) anyway, are you for or against it?

To be honest, I don't have much time to dedicate to it. However, we can try. But I would like to discuss a few questions. First, I want to hear possible suggestions and wishes regarding the contest. Second, I want to listen to criticism about how my previous contest was conducted, for example, should we keep the same voting principle as in the first "Best Artist" contest? Should we make the contest consist of several rounds (i.e., several drawings)? Or will this negatively affect the quality of the submissions? (this question is primarily for artists). Another important point is the theme. Naturally, we should stick to a fantasy theme; I would like to hear all suggestions, and maybe even a discussion. The opinion of potential participants in the contest is very important to me. That’s all I could think of at the moment. P.S. To moderators: I think it makes sense to move the posts to this topic. P.P.S. It would be best to hold the contest during winter, during the holidays. More precisely, so that the time allotted for drawing falls on the winter holidays. Perhaps the theme should also be related to New Year. P.P.P.S. I cannot promise anything yet, but I will try my best if forum members are interested in the idea and there are many artists. Five [participants] is still too few, and I would also like more voters.

It needs to be changed. Forum members won't want to write reviews for every drawing – they'll just write three-letter posts. That won't work. Let there be a regular vote, and those who want to say something smart can do so)))
Theme? Hmm... let it be fantasy-themed and New Year's, or heroic-winter themed)))
P.S. Yes, during the holidays it would be perfect. But we need to start before the holidays. I can spend a maximum of two days on one drawing :)

if you're holding a contest, the voting should be the same... otherwise, random people will show up) and it will be immediately clear who is voting for what, why, and for what reason
the theme should be New Year's... if there are several rounds, then you can have different genres (fantasy, science fiction, or nature, humanoids, etc., and one New Year's theme)...
and of course, the drawings should be original creations by the artist... (because sometimes you look at the Art Gallery and see a drawn copy of some artwork)...
P.S. I often drew units from Heroes (now less often), but they weren't similar to the original because I take the idea, not the picture with all the details.

I propose the theme "New Year in Fantasy." If this were on DA, we could draw our own characters celebrating the holiday. But this is on HeroesWorld. Here we can draw heroes and units. Boozing elves with an ent dressed up as a Christmas tree. Boozing demons with fireworks. Boozing undead with a dried-out Christmas tree decorated with skulls. We could just draw fantasy creatures. Or even HeroesWorld users. The HW guys are sitting under the tree, celebrating, Arandor is chasing Maggot with a moderator's sword, I'm cozying up to Lukki, Lelya and Polosataya are sitting and sketching someone from life, and so on, the imagination is limitless (oh, I've definitely spent too much time on DA Kosh). Or we could dress up, say, a druid as Father Frost, a witch as the Snow Maiden... Or a succubus as the Snow Maiden, a vampire as Father Frost...

I would gladly participate, as I didn't have time for the previous contest. Please create a list of participants; if there are no participants, what's the point of holding the contest? The previous contest featured wonderful artists, but not all those who post their artwork in the gallery participated. If anyone needs to reach me, I'm often online.

Does the contest necessarily have to be related to the New Year?
I think fantasy and New Year's don't really go together. If the contest were similar to the previous one, I would gladly participate!))

I think we need to tie it together, because fantasy + HeroesWorld (characters) + New Year = fun and funny x) (especially if there are themed jokes, like forum members in a fantasy world who come for the New Year.. drawing a Christmas tree, red hats, DM, and Town Portal, etc.)

I'm in favor of holding a contest; the last one was well-organized, and I enjoyed it. It's a shame that not many people participated, though.

I would also like a contest, but it would be good to announce it in advance (at least 2 weeks beforehand), as I don't visit the internet very often due to being busy.

Hey, what's that? Is a comedic genre in drawing an indicator that the artist has imagination? Yes, Arandor, watch your words, or you might accidentally offend someone. And besides, I think there won't be many participants because drawing New Year's heroes in red/blue, without hats, in fur coats and felt boots with a Christmas tree and gift boxes is overdone, and not everyone will want to do it, not because they can't, but because they don't want to. That's just my IMHO. I won't participate, but I hope to find time to look and vote. ;)

I absolutely agree with Lelya! The idea of combining fantasy with New Year's and making it humorous is not very successful. In my opinion, it would be better to simply draw fantasy creatures in winter, in the snow, etc. There would be more participants and it would be more interesting.

By the way, I don't think we should limit ourselves to non-Photoshop methods this time. Because programs like GIMP and Paint.NET are also forms of art, and you need to have the right skills to use them effectively. Personally, I can't even upload a scan without making some minor adjustments in GIMP first. And some people don't even have a scanner, so they have to find other ways to manage. If someone wants to edit photos to a reasonably high quality but doesn't have the means to do so themselves, I think they should turn to those who can provide that service. I, for one, would be happy to help ;)

P.S. No one is forcing you to draw something humorous. It's just one of the categories. I'm going to draw something humorous; I already have a plot and some rough sketches. Others can do whatever they want ;)
