Greetings, fans of Heroes Of Might & Magic IV!

I announce the start of a new online tournament for HoMM IV
"Sultry Season"!

So, summer has arrived; many have been freed from earthly chores and problems and now have some free time. And although the weather hasn't exactly spoiled us with its warmth, I very much hope that hot days are still ahead! Moreover, a lull reigns over HeroesWorld, primarily due to the ongoing 2008 World Championship. But it is time to shake up the World of Heroes! To make things heat up! And if we have to wait for the same from the heavenly office, then "Sultry Season" is arriving in the World of Heroes!

Tournament Regulations and Rules.

1. The tournament is official!
. Upon its completion, players will be awarded a rating, and the winner will receive a reward in their profile!

2. The tournament is held on HoMM IV version: Equilibris 3.51. You can Download it here.

3. Connection can be established via Hamachi (download) in one subnet:

Name:
Pora_2008
Password:
pora

4. Tournament start dates: from July 14 to September 1 inclusive!

5. The tournament will follow the scheme: "qualifying stage + final stage". Let me explain what this is.
After participant registration ends, the qualifying stage begins: all participants are divided into 2 groups. A win in a match earns 3 points. If there are 4 players in a group, then the 2 players who score the most points from each group advance to the final stage. If there are 6 or more players in a group, then 3 players with the highest number of points advance to the final stage. In the final stage, they merge into one group (The Big Cup Group) and play a round-robin system to determine the winner of the Big Cup Group. All remaining players also advance to the final stage, forming a second group (The Small Cup Group), where they will compete for the winner of the Small Cup Group. Upon entering the final stage, all points earned by players in the qualifying stage are reset!
In the final stage, the player who scores the most points wins. Thus, there will be 2 tournament winners, one for each group!

Time limit for one game: 7 days.
During this time, players must play their match and provide a report. If for some reason the game is delayed and it is impossible to fit within this timeframe, players must request an extension. The maximum extension period is 3 days. If a player does not play their game by the end of the established deadline, they are given a technical defeat.

This point has been changed for this tournament! All games must be played between July 14 and September 1 inclusive!

6. After registration is complete, a draw will be conducted in pairs using a special program to determine the red and blue player in each pair. The red player will be the first player and the one creating the game (host). If a player does not have the technical ability to be the host, they must notify the organizer before the tournament begins.

7. The map on which the game takes place is chosen by crossing out maps one by one from a general list. The first player starts crossing out maps, then the second player crosses out a map, and so on until only one single map remains.

Map List:

After the Flood (Expert, 6 min);
Battle of Underground (Expert, 6 min);
If these walls could talk (Advanced, 6 min);
Iron Man (Expert, 8 min);
Lezkandra (Expert, 6 min);
Keeper (Expert, 6 min);
Plains of Despair (Expert, 6 min);
Showdown (Expert, 6 min);
Spleen (Expert, 8 min);
Тихий Мир (Expert, 8 min);
Heartwinter (Expert, 6 min);
Eldorado (Expert, 6 min);
Insaniti (Expert, 6 min);
Охота на Рептилий (Expert, 6 min).

8. After choosing the map, players first agree on turn time and difficulty (if players cannot reach a consensus, the recommendations from the map list are used), then the second player chooses the color they will play.

9. One (or both players) may choose a random race for the game. The first player makes the choice (to play or not to play with a random race) first, followed by the second player. If one of the players plays with a random race and the other does not, the one playing with a random race crosses out two races from the opponent's list of possible playable races. The opponent then chooses their race from the remaining ones.

If both players decide not to play as a random race, the choice of races is also made by crossing them out from a list. All available races for each color are listed. In total, there are 12. After this, players take turns crossing out races until only one uncrossed race remains in each list — these are the ones they will play. During this process, one can cross out "bad" races from their own list as well as "good" ones from the opponent's list. The sequence of crossing is as follows: 1-2-2-…-2-1 (meaning the first player crosses out one position, then the second — two, the first — two, …, and finally the second — one). The second player starts crossing.

10. The first player creates the game (via gameSpy, hamachi, or standard game means — depending on the technical connection capabilities of both players).
Game parameters:
map — chosen during crossing;
game password — "yes";
guards — stationary;
turn time and difficulty — agreed upon by players after map selection (or recommended in the map list).

After the second player joins, the selected races are set and the host starts the game.

11. Both players have the right to take one restart each before the end of their first turn (before passing the turn to the opponent). To do this, it is sufficient to write "restart" in the chat and wait for the opponent's "ok" response. After a restart, the first player recreates the game with the same parameters.

12. A player is considered defeated if they lose all their cities and armies, or lose all cities and fail to capture any city in the following 3 days (standard defeat conditions).

13. It is advisable to make regular saves (for example, at the end of your turn) to resolve disputed situations that may arise during the game.

14. In case of a connection break or game crash, the last save is loaded. Players are required to exactly repeat all their moves up until the moment of the same connection break or crash.

15. If you dig up the Grail, a save with a fully opened puzzle map is required; otherwise, the action is considered cheating.

16. In case of battles between players, a stalemate situation may arise. For example, one player has 10 imps left, and the other has 100 ogres. The imps fly around the field, and the ogres cannot catch them. In this situation, the attacking side must retreat or surrender (at their discretion). If the Shackles of War artifact is used in battle, the battle should be finished in Auto-battle mode.

17. A report on the played game must be left in the thread "Reports from the HoMM IV 'Sultry Season' online tournament", which should contain the following information:

[First player name] ([race]) [def/lose] [Second player name] ([race]) — [map name], [game time of game end in "month week day" format]

18. A technical defeat will be given for violating the rules during the game. For cheating (which is, of course, forbidden) — disqualification!

19. All disputed points in the game are decided by the organizer, so I ask you to notify them of such occurrences promptly.

20. Organizers reserve the right to make any changes to the rules!

21. And one last thing! Respect your opponent! It is forbidden to use cheats, bugs, or the editor during the game! Value both your time and your opponent's! Do not avoid games and do not drag out matches or individual battles!

Anyone who wishes can sign up for the tournament; the main condition is to be registered on HeroesWorld!
To participate in the tournament, you must leave an application in this thread; the application must specify: your Nick and ICQ number!

Don't get ahead of yourself. There are still four days left until the group stage. I hope to finish playing with Larson, as we started the game a long time ago, and I don't want to let him down.

Will the game format for the second stage remain the same? ...it seems that, judging by the activity, we will be playing until next year. Maybe a playoff? :rolleyes:

Dear tournament players, as promised, starting today, the Final Stage of the online HoMM IV tournament "Scorching Season" begins!

So, there will be 2 groups again.
The Grand Cup Group, which includes players who took 1st to 3rd place in their groups. The remaining players are combined into the Small Cup Group.
Each group will have 6 people.
Antoxic and Brackman are out of the tournament.

The participants of the groups are almost determined; the only doubt concerns 3 players who are vying for 3rd place in Group 1, but since their games have not yet been completed, it is not possible to determine who of the 3 it will be. Therefore, I will leave one spot in the Grand Cup Group vacant for now. The rest can start playing among themselves; those who haven't finished their games will simply join a little later.
This decision may not be entirely correct, but there is no point in waiting, and I also want to give everyone the opportunity to finish their games. Especially given the unclear situation in Group 1.
So, we continue the tournament and move to its final stage. The rest will join a little later.

The following players advance to the "Grand Cup Group":

1. LordZezuk;
2. oxygen_hl;
3. СТРАННuК;
4. ZYbr;
5. Lee;
6. shnurov_hl

The following players advance to the "Small Cup Group":

1. Lars;
2. Pandora;
3. Drakkoska;
4. Pashagreen;
5. Brennus_Whiskey;
6. Lu41k.

Host assignment:

Player 1 hosts matches against players 2, 4, and 6.
Player 2 hosts matches against players 3 and 5.
Player 3 hosts matches against players 1, 4, and 6.
Player 4 hosts matches against players 2 and 5.
Player 5 hosts matches against players 1, 3, and 6.
Player 6 hosts matches against players 2 and 4.

Deadline for the final stage: November 16th (inclusive).
This should be enough time for everyone.

I really hope there will be no more delays... And I want to apologize to those with whom I still haven't had the opportunity to finish playing... :(

I hope for your understanding!

P.S. The tables will be available a little later... some other problems have arisen right now...

Best regards, Luchik!

It is not possible to finish the game with Brennus. He plays for about 40 minutes a day, which means one or two, at most three turns. And not every day. Since we are playing a game on Leskandr and it is approaching the 4th week, I request that you consider the last save for awarding a result. If necessary, the last save is with Brennus. I asked him to send it to Luchik along with the password.

Dear participants, I kindly ask you to resolve any disputes privately. There are PMs, ICQ, MSN, Hamachi, etc. Also, let's respect each other! Insults are completely unacceptable! We should also keep in mind that we all have our own problems, which is why we may not always have time to play. In this regard, I am making the following decision for today: I am giving you until Sunday, inclusive, to play. I kindly ask you to calmly agree on a time and play. You will coordinate in this thread. The start time of the game, the approximate duration... If you still haven't found time to complete your game by Sunday evening, I will need the last save and passwords from you. I will sort it out myself. Sincerely, Luchik.

"Brrr... well..." (c) Luchik "What was that? That's some power!" (c) from some advertisement Luch, have you decided to give Shnurov and Brennus even more time? Honestly, I don't quite understand why... There was already a fairly long first stage, then another 2 weeks were added, and then another week was added to that... Seriously, if the guys couldn't finish the game in 2 months, then 4 days probably won't make a difference, especially when something goes wrong somewhere. I understand that you're very busy with tournaments - I don't even know when you have time for real life :) - and reviewing saves is not exactly your favorite thing. Luch, I'm not sure if it's déjà vu or just a childish fear, but I feel that with this arrangement, we could lose both players or drag out the tournament again :( and lose motivation again. I don't consider myself the ultimate authority, but if you need help, I wouldn't refuse to judge the game, just so we don't slow things down.

Ruslan, I really don't have enough time for everything (unfortunately), but I would find time to sort out the save files. So, it's not about that; I just want to give both players more time to finish. If they (or rather, one of them) can find the time and finish, that's great. If not, then by Tuesday (I work on Monday), I'll be waiting for the save files with passwords! (By the way, you can send them on Sunday too; I'll arrive and try to take a look in the evening if you think there's no other way).
The games in the final stage have already begun, so I don't think anyone will be hindered by the fact that some are still finishing.
Regarding the mood, I really hope it doesn't fade. This is very important to me personally! That's why I started the final stage! And I hope that Monsieur Shnurov and Mr. Brennus can find common ground and decide who will end up in which group. They should resolve it calmly and peacefully, as befits true Heroes. And I am always ready to do my job as a judge.

Best regards, Luchik!

Mr. Brennus, we haven't seen you in Hamachi for 3 days. Will you log in on Sunday night, not have time to play, and then cry about the unfairness of the world when the match results are announced?

Dear players, please pay attention to post 68, which has been edited in accordance with the reorganization of groups :)

The tables for the final stage will be available later.

I would also like to ask you to refrain from settling scores outside of tournament topics.
I understand that passions are running high, and this is largely my fault... After all, I am not a very good and completely inexperienced organizer. The structure of the tournament was experimental, so now I can evaluate it, see my mistakes, and draw appropriate conclusions. That's why I allowed the qualifying round to drag on, and this, in turn, led to disagreements... It's a pity..
But at the same time, I want to ask you not to engage in public disputes in the future. You can calmly do this privately; there are plenty of means of communication in the 21st century!
I perfectly understood the situation, and it was not necessary to present me with the problem in such a light!
I want to warn you that no unsubstantiated accusations will be considered by me! If something worries or dissatisfies you in your opponent's game, please provide me with specific facts or ask me to investigate the situation by providing save files and passwords for the game. Only then will I be able to assess the problem and draw appropriate conclusions!
And please remember about the "presumption of innocence," namely: that no one can be declared guilty without proof of guilt!

In connection with this, I consider the incident closed!

My friends, let's respect each other and enjoy playing and communicating! After all, you are not losing a cow! And even if you lose a cow, let's lose beautifully and with dignity! In my opinion, defeat should only make a person stronger; it gives an opportunity to examine their mistakes and desire to gain more experience, take revenge in the next game, and learn to play better. It is boring to win all the time... and it also relaxes. You need to get pleasure from the game, even if you lose. You need to perceive everything with a smile and a dose of optimism! Then life will become more fun :)

In short, I am ending my monologue and want to say one thing: let's start the final part and conduct it in a good mood, and we will only receive positive emotions from the games :)

And I will go to learn lessons from my personal mistakes, think about the structure of future online tournaments, and prepare for games in my group :)

And sleep... because today was a hard day, and tomorrow is work... So until Tuesday :) Play and good luck to everyone!

With sincere respect to everyone, Luchik!

In reference to your last decisions, which I disagree, and having regard that I don't want to waste a time for unfinished games and silly quarrels I resignate with further games in this tournament.Thx.
