I announce the start of a new online tournament for HoMM IV
"Sultry Season"!
So, summer has arrived; many have been freed from earthly chores and problems and now have some free time. And although the weather hasn't exactly spoiled us with its warmth, I very much hope that hot days are still ahead! Moreover, a lull reigns over HeroesWorld, primarily due to the ongoing 2008 World Championship. But it is time to shake up the World of Heroes! To make things heat up! And if we have to wait for the same from the heavenly office, then "Sultry Season" is arriving in the World of Heroes!
Tournament Regulations and Rules.
1. The tournament is official!
. Upon its completion, players will be awarded a rating, and the winner will receive a reward in their profile!
2. The tournament is held on HoMM IV version: Equilibris 3.51. You can Download it here.
3. Connection can be established via Hamachi (download) in one subnet:
Name:
Pora_2008
Password:
pora
4. Tournament start dates: from July 14 to September 1 inclusive!
5. The tournament will follow the scheme: "qualifying stage + final stage". Let me explain what this is.
After participant registration ends, the qualifying stage begins: all participants are divided into 2 groups. A win in a match earns 3 points. If there are 4 players in a group, then the 2 players who score the most points from each group advance to the final stage. If there are 6 or more players in a group, then 3 players with the highest number of points advance to the final stage. In the final stage, they merge into one group (The Big Cup Group) and play a round-robin system to determine the winner of the Big Cup Group. All remaining players also advance to the final stage, forming a second group (The Small Cup Group), where they will compete for the winner of the Small Cup Group. Upon entering the final stage, all points earned by players in the qualifying stage are reset!
In the final stage, the player who scores the most points wins. Thus, there will be 2 tournament winners, one for each group!
Time limit for one game: 7 days.
During this time, players must play their match and provide a report. If for some reason the game is delayed and it is impossible to fit within this timeframe, players must request an extension. The maximum extension period is 3 days. If a player does not play their game by the end of the established deadline, they are given a technical defeat.
This point has been changed for this tournament! All games must be played between July 14 and September 1 inclusive!
6. After registration is complete, a draw will be conducted in pairs using a special program to determine the red and blue player in each pair. The red player will be the first player and the one creating the game (host). If a player does not have the technical ability to be the host, they must notify the organizer before the tournament begins.
7. The map on which the game takes place is chosen by crossing out maps one by one from a general list. The first player starts crossing out maps, then the second player crosses out a map, and so on until only one single map remains.
Map List:
After the Flood (Expert, 6 min);
Battle of Underground (Expert, 6 min);
If these walls could talk (Advanced, 6 min);
Iron Man (Expert, 8 min);
Lezkandra (Expert, 6 min);
Keeper (Expert, 6 min);
Plains of Despair (Expert, 6 min);
Showdown (Expert, 6 min);
Spleen (Expert, 8 min);
Тихий Мир (Expert, 8 min);
Heartwinter (Expert, 6 min);
Eldorado (Expert, 6 min);
Insaniti (Expert, 6 min);
Охота на Рептилий (Expert, 6 min).
8. After choosing the map, players first agree on turn time and difficulty (if players cannot reach a consensus, the recommendations from the map list are used), then the second player chooses the color they will play.
9. One (or both players) may choose a random race for the game. The first player makes the choice (to play or not to play with a random race) first, followed by the second player. If one of the players plays with a random race and the other does not, the one playing with a random race crosses out two races from the opponent's list of possible playable races. The opponent then chooses their race from the remaining ones.
If both players decide not to play as a random race, the choice of races is also made by crossing them out from a list. All available races for each color are listed. In total, there are 12. After this, players take turns crossing out races until only one uncrossed race remains in each list — these are the ones they will play. During this process, one can cross out "bad" races from their own list as well as "good" ones from the opponent's list. The sequence of crossing is as follows: 1-2-2-…-2-1 (meaning the first player crosses out one position, then the second — two, the first — two, …, and finally the second — one). The second player starts crossing.
10. The first player creates the game (via gameSpy, hamachi, or standard game means — depending on the technical connection capabilities of both players).
Game parameters:
map — chosen during crossing;
game password — "yes";
guards — stationary;
turn time and difficulty — agreed upon by players after map selection (or recommended in the map list).
After the second player joins, the selected races are set and the host starts the game.
11. Both players have the right to take one restart each before the end of their first turn (before passing the turn to the opponent). To do this, it is sufficient to write "restart" in the chat and wait for the opponent's "ok" response. After a restart, the first player recreates the game with the same parameters.
12. A player is considered defeated if they lose all their cities and armies, or lose all cities and fail to capture any city in the following 3 days (standard defeat conditions).
13. It is advisable to make regular saves (for example, at the end of your turn) to resolve disputed situations that may arise during the game.
14. In case of a connection break or game crash, the last save is loaded. Players are required to exactly repeat all their moves up until the moment of the same connection break or crash.
15. If you dig up the Grail, a save with a fully opened puzzle map is required; otherwise, the action is considered cheating.
16. In case of battles between players, a stalemate situation may arise. For example, one player has 10 imps left, and the other has 100 ogres. The imps fly around the field, and the ogres cannot catch them. In this situation, the attacking side must retreat or surrender (at their discretion). If the Shackles of War artifact is used in battle, the battle should be finished in Auto-battle mode.
17. A report on the played game must be left in the thread "Reports from the HoMM IV 'Sultry Season' online tournament", which should contain the following information:
[First player name] ([race]) [def/lose] [Second player name] ([race]) — [map name], [game time of game end in "month week day" format]
18. A technical defeat will be given for violating the rules during the game. For cheating (which is, of course, forbidden) — disqualification!
19. All disputed points in the game are decided by the organizer, so I ask you to notify them of such occurrences promptly.
20. Organizers reserve the right to make any changes to the rules!
21. And one last thing! Respect your opponent! It is forbidden to use cheats, bugs, or the editor during the game! Value both your time and your opponent's! Do not avoid games and do not drag out matches or individual battles!
Anyone who wishes can sign up for the tournament; the main condition is to be registered on HeroesWorld!
To participate in the tournament, you must leave an application in this thread; the application must specify: your Nick and ICQ number!
