Well, I may be new to this forum, but I've been playing Heroes for a long time, I've played all 5 parts, so here's what I think about the Necromancer Faction in the 5th installment:
1) Skeletons - they were definitely improved with the upgrade to archers, but the appearance is frankly ridiculous. One torn boot on its foot - that's just great, and the "combat" stance strongly reminds me of the pikemen suffering from hemorrhoids from the 4th part...
2) Zombies - the essence remains the same: slow but resilient meat. The appearance - I don't quite get it - zombies, by definition, are the corpses of HUMANS. So how come they are almost twice the size of the peasants?! It feels like the necromancers inflated them for fun before bringing them back to life!
3) Ghosts - I really like their appearance! IMHO - the best depiction of ghosts in all the Heroes games. And the fact that there are three of them in one stack is a unique case for the entire series! Their attack method immediately reminds me of the 3rd part of "The Lord of the Rings" - there, the army of ghosts also attacked simply by passing through the poor orcs.
4) Vampires - one of my favorite units in the series. It's a pity that they were weakened, but on the other hand, now you can't create such chaos with them as in the fourth! The appearance - very unusual for vampires, but I liked it (although it was better in the second)!
5) Liches - it's good that they brought them back, instead of those green blobs from the 4th part. The cloud of death is awesome. I liked the chained book in the appearance.
6) Death Knights - these guys are new to the Heroes series, I liked them, especially the ability - they are real "monster killers"! The appearance clearly evokes the same "The Lord of the Rings", many have already noted this.
7) Dragon-skeletons/ghosts - this is a classic, and it would be a sin to change it, it looks normal!
Hero - but the appearance of the hero on a half-rotten horse corpse is not impressive, and it doesn't match many portraits. Couldn't they have made at least a normal horse - for example, a black one, with glowing eyes, or even just its pure skeleton!
Well, I think I've said a few words about everyone, I suggest that in the future we evaluate the models of creatures, the hero, and the entire faction as a whole on a five-point scale (to make it clearer).
I'll give an example of my assessment:
skeleton - 2
zombie - 1
ghost - 5
vampire - 4
lich - 4
death knight - 5
dragon-skeleton/ghost - 4
hero - 3
faction as a whole - 4
;)
