As far as I know, most system units have an exhaust fan. I have one too. You can install a separate intake fan (I don't have one). And everything is fine; neither the CPU nor the system gets hot, and as for dust, that's a given. I didn't think about it before (the computer wasn't used for long at that time), and as a result, the CPU heatsink got clogged with dust (Pentium 4), and my computer started shutting down periodically due to critical overheating – 110 degrees.
P.S. How can exhaust be useless? It's located at the top of the system unit, where hot air accumulates (simple child's physics), and therefore this air is blown out of the system unit.

Vayshan =) think about it. What volume of cold air will be inside the system unit when air is blown in and when air is blown out? (In a closed space, taking into account the physics of the *fan*'s operation).

I think the air inside the computer case will definitely be warm because the space inside is quite limited. But still... the purpose of these intake and exhaust fans is also to create an airflow through the system unit. The front fan blows air in, and the rear fan blows it out. This airflow cools the video card, the processor heatsink, and other hot components. A simple example: if it's hot, take a fan (I sometimes use a mousepad for this purpose) and wave it at yourself – you'll definitely feel cooler, even though the temperature of that air remains the same.

Hello everyone! What a discussion we have here!
So, I checked my setup. I have one fan on the motherboard. The sound is quiet, typical for a fan.
The second, smaller one, is on the case and works as an intake fan; it's inaudible.
The power supply makes the most noise. They suggested getting an FSP.
I'll look into it. :)
I turned on the computer with the side panel removed. At startup, the temperature on the CPU was 30 and 42 degrees Celsius. After 25 minutes, it reached the previously mentioned values (which I recorded during a reboot). The conclusion is that, on my specific machine, removing the side panel of the case does not affect the CPU and system temperature.
