Posts from What kind of music do fans of Heroes of Might and Magic like? (music genres)
Hmm... Looks like I won't be able to make it... I'd have to get up around eight in the morning to arrive on time, which wouldn't be a problem, except that I'm celebrating my birthday on Friday, and... well, can you imagine how I'll feel getting up that early and then traveling to Moscow?
Step aside from the way of a better man than you So you fall at his feet hes the one who betrays you Its the servants devotion for the decay Stand up
Yeah, we won't be able to meet anyway. Lars can't make it, so let's postpone it until May 8th. And now, a contest, it's been a while! About the band Blind Guardian:
1) How many people are in the main lineup of this band (i.e., not counting session musicians or musicians invited for concerts)?
2) Does this band have something that inspired a similar project in Russia?
3) The easiest one: What is the vocal range of their singer in octaves?

I can't say that I dislike one musical direction while liking another. For me, there isn't even one band where I would like absolutely all of their songs. I can confidently say that I listen to all genres; there's nothing like, "This is pure pop, I hate it," or "Country music is not trendy, I won't listen to it." I can judge a specific song and decide whether I like it or not.
P.S. Out of respect for the work of the greats, I'm voting for the classics.

Let me briefly digress from our conversation and suggest you listen to another (this time, incredibly funny) song. The author is Sergey Kalugin, and it's called "Now You're in the Army," but be warned that it contains profanity, so keep that in mind when listening. And here's a description of the author: "While in the shower, I translated the song 'You in the army now' into Russian. It turned out to be very inappropriate."
Damn, no one even tried to answer, even though this contest was quite easy. Answers:
1) 4 (two guitarists, a vocalist, and a drummer)
2) Yes. It's some kind of metal opera. It's about Middle-earth. The title is something like "Twilight of Middle-earth."
3) 3 and a half octaves.

Not so long ago, I listened to almost any music, except for pop. But by now, my preferences have formed, and I often listen only to rock, heavy metal, individual tracks from other genres, and occasionally soundtracks from my favorite games. I prefer Russian rock, especially Kino, Nautilus, and DDT. Heavy metal – that's definitely ARIA! And I think it's not hard to guess what my favorite soundtracks are. The music from Heroes of Might and Magic III is THE BEST! The thing is, when you have to listen to a melody repeatedly, and your initial attitude towards it is neutral, you get used to it, and after some time, it becomes your favorite. That's why I sometimes listen to tracks from different NFS games, and not just rock.
O God of Earth and Altar, Bow down and hear our cry, Our earthly rulers falter, Our people drift and die, The walls of gold entomb us, The swords of scorn divide, Take not thy thunder from us, Take away our pride.
I completely agree about the soundtracks. I also enjoy listening to the soundtracks from Gothic 3, Oblivion, Heroes 5... I've kind of gotten hooked:D When you listen to them, you remember the best moments of the game, and it makes you want to sit down and play... It really affects you emotionally.
I think I voted for rock, metal, Celtic music, folk, and jazz. Recently, I've been listening to Loreen McKeinnt a lot; I won't list the rest, it would take too much time to remember and write everything down.
Generally, I listen to different kinds of music; it all depends on my mood, but I mostly prefer rock and metal, and preferably something that gives me energy.
I love music in the *Relax* style.
It's very pleasant music, perfect for meditation and relaxation.
Some compositions from the *Heroes* games are similar to this music.

If it's not some kind of pop music, but rather classical music, then I can agree with you. As I may have mentioned before (although I don't remember exactly, maybe I didn't), besides heavy music, I also like classical music. The perfect way to restore your nerves: spend at least three days in complete solitude, plus listen to classical music, and there's no need to say that nerve cells don't regenerate :).
Well, I have two favorite genres: heavy music – metal of all kinds *almost*, and I especially love symphonic power metal! And also, enigmatic music – like Loreena McKennitt, Secret Garden, Era, and so on. I also like composers like Jerry Goldsmith – he wrote the music for *13th Warrior, my favorite movie!*, Vladimir Dashkevich – all the Sherlock Holmes soundtracks, Borodin and Mussorgsky. I like the soundtrack from Braveheart. It even makes me tear up! And of course, the music from Heroes! That's it.
Знаешь, кто такие друиды? Это такие мутанты, бродяги, которые болтаются по миру и поклоняются священным дубам. (с) Вильгефорц Вотчина Ордена Беспорядка :smile13: ну очень серьезный металист;)
WOW!!! When I started listening to metal and rock (and even got my brother into it :)), I thought there weren't many people like me... there was only one guy in my university group who listened to metal:(
Then, when I started playing Heroes (my brother plays too:)), I thought there weren't many people who played it either...
But now I came here and see that there are a lot of Heroes fans - and about 70-80% of them listen to metal/rock!!!
How can this be explained? Is it because most of them listen to good music?
Maybe you're all mathematicians, programmers, or IT specialists? Why don't you create a poll to check it out!!!:D
