My Heroes 3 game installed correctly, without any errors, but it freezes in the main menu. What should I do?

I want to play Heroes of Might and Magic III online. I open HMM3 and do the following: 1) New Game 2) Multiplayer 3) TCP/IP 4) Host 5) Enter the server name Then, I am asked to choose a map. When I choose ANY map, I get the following message: "For online play, you must have at least 2 players. Select the "additional settings" option or load a new map. In the scenario options, it says Player (me) and Computer. I can't change the Computer... :( What should I do?

Try creating a random map. Which version of Heroes do you have?

People really want to play via Hamachi, but it's not working. I can see the session, but I can't join. HELP!!! Please, someone, help me!! 490841076

If you're connected, then the firewall isn't the issue. Everyone has the same Hamachi version, so it's probably a pirated copy, and it's glitching. I just messaged you on ICQ, but there was no response. If you change your mind, message me – I'll help. 375-572-427

I launch it, and it works normally, but only for a maximum of 2 days, and then the same thing happens again. The problem is as follows: I have a static external IP address assigned to my router, but Heroes doesn't recognize this IP. The question is: which ports do Heroes use for online play? I had a similar problem with the eMule program. After configuring the ports in the router, everything worked correctly. I think the same applies here. Thank you in advance.

How exactly are you establishing the connection? If using Hamachi, read about it here: here. If that doesn't help, alternative methods can be found here: here. I have a vague feeling that you haven't tried using Hamachi. If this is indeed the case, then you should start using it. If you have used it, send me a message on ICQ; we can brainstorm together and try to connect.

Let me explain the situation. I currently have Windows Vista 64-bit, and the game runs perfectly. Until recently, before I installed a router, it could normally detect my IP address, and I could play online. Everything was great, and I was found without any problems (except for the times when the firewall blocked it). Now, with the router, it gives me the computer's address within the local network, meaning the address assigned by the router, and, of course, I can't be seen because the IP address is different and, moreover, it's a local one. Something similar happened with eMule because it also reacts very positively to having a static IP address, and without it, it can't connect to the largest servers due to Low ID. However, after reading about this, I was directed to a website that explained which ports to specify in the Virtual Server in the router's admin panel. Therefore, I think the problem here is similar. Knowing the ports, I'll enter them, and everything will work.

P.S.: I tried Hamachi, but I wasn't impressed. Then I figured out the IP address issue, and everything became normal.

It works, and it works great :). I've been playing for three months now.

Hamachi is undoubtedly the simplest solution to the problem. If Hamachi doesn't work on Vista, try pLan. After installing Hamachi, open the shortcut properties, where there should be a "compatibility" section, where you should select XP. ps, you can also do this with the setup file, if necessary.

Guys, everything worked great for me even without Hamachi. I need to find out which ports Heroes uses, and that's it. Thanks for your answers, of course.
P.S. Regarding Hamachi not working, I read about it on another forum, so please don't judge. I'm not to blame for the misinformation being spread there.
