And a couple of questions.
1. Do I need to download Hamachi to play the game? My IP address is dynamic, so I understand that I do. If so, please provide a link.
2. I read somewhere that you need to set the compatibility mode to Win 95 in the game's properties to play over a network. However, when I set this mode, the game doesn't launch. To be more precise, it launches, but a black screen appears, and that's it. At the same time, the task manager shows that the task is running... However, without setting the compatibility mode, everything works normally. What should I do, and is it even necessary to do anything?

1. I think it's better to download it. Because it's not always possible to connect directly, even with a direct IP, and from my observations, the game crashes less often with Hamachi.

2. Are you sure you have the Gold version?

1. I've already downloaded Hamachi just in case; I just need to figure it out, but I think it's pretty straightforward.
2. Yes, it's the Gold, English version. I don't remember where or when I got it, but it's been about 10 years. It never really satisfied me because you can't play the original campaigns (when you select Original Campaign, a black screen appears, you move the mouse – two frames are highlighted, and when you click on either, the game crashes). I think it might be a buggy version, but I haven't been able to find a good one to download.

I downloaded HeroesII.exe from the link in the HL thread. This file was recognized as a 7-Zip SFX archive. But it won't unpack, it says "Archive is not supported". What should I do?
