FOURTH OFFLINE HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC I "CAMPAIGN" TOURNAMENT

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. To participate in the fourth offline Heroes of Might and Magic I "CAMPAIGN" tournament, you must register on our website www.heroesworld.ru and submit an application in this thread.

2. The tournament is conducted using the Russian version of Heroes of Might and Magic I from Buka. Saves will be generated on the Russian version 1.1.

3. The tournament will consist of 8 stages, as that is how many campaign maps were created by the developers. The goal of the game is to defeat the enemy or fulfill a specific condition within each individual scenario.
- Upon completion of each stage, a player rating will be awarded, which will accumulate with each subsequent successful completion of a stage.
- A reward will be given for each stage (in the profile and under the avatar), thereby providing an incentive for the player at every stage.
- The overall winner of this tournament (across all stages) receives a prize in the form of a trophy (in the profile and under the avatar).
- This is a rated tournament, so you should start earning your rating now, as the highest-rated player on our site at the end of the year will receive a separate prize in the form of an absolute winner's trophy, as well as an honorary certificate sent by mail.

4. Results will be evaluated primarily based on minimum time. If several players have identical completion times, the best will be determined by the sum of primary skills (attack, defense, magic, knowledge) INCLUDING EQUIPPED ARTIFACTS of the player's best hero; if a favorite is still not determined, then by the amount of mercury.

5. The list of prohibitions can be read in the thread:

Offline Tournament Rules + FAQ!, or on the website www.handbookhmm1.narod.ru

6. Send saves to the email address VDV_forever@BK.RU

The submitted save must contain the tournament number (4), the stage number, the participant's number in the application table, the stage abbreviation (for the first stage P - PROLOGUE), and the player's Nick.

Example:

4_1_1_П_VDV_forever.CGM

7. In case a player is suspected of cheating or other malicious intent while completing the map, it is necessary to save every game day, as well as before and immediately after a difficult battle.
In such an event (detection of cheating), the player will be required to send additional saves and provide a walkthrough description to the tournament organizer to determine whether the play was fair or unfair.
The result of a player who played unfairly will be nullified, and their further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also reflect poorly on their reputation.

8. Discussion of the tournament during its progress is FORBIDDEN!!!
(Players who violate this rule automatically disqualify themselves from playing the tournament; their results will not be counted and will be annulled).

9. The first stage of the tournament starts on October 6 and lasts until October 20 (inclusive!) 2007. Results will be announced on October 23, 2007.

The second stage of the tournament starts on October 23 and lasts until November 11 (inclusive!) 2007. Results will be announced on November 14, 2007.

The third stage of the tournament starts on November 26 and lasts until December 10 (inclusive!) 2007. Results will be announced on December 14, 2007.

The fourth stage of the tournament starts on January 12, 2008, and lasts until February 1 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on February 4, 2008.

The fifth stage of the tournament starts on March 13, 2008, and lasts until April 13 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on April 16, 2008.

The sixth stage of the tournament starts on May 26, 2008, and lasts until June 20 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on June 23, 2008.

The seventh stage of the tournament starts on July 7, 2008, and lasts until August 7 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on August 13, 2008.
Note - this stage of the tournament is also conducted as part of the annual Van Kanigem tournament (Stage 6 of the Van Kanigem tournament).

The eighth stage of the tournament starts on September 20, 2008, and lasts until October 20 (inclusive!) 2008. Results will be announced on October 23, 2008.

10. After your save is received, you will see in the application table that:

save accepted - indicated by a bold Nick.
save counted - indicated by a blue bold Nick.
save not counted - indicated by a red bold Nick.
This list can be expanded by new participants!
We invite everyone to participate in the tournament!

Saves will only be considered for players who are in this table, so submit your applications IN ADVANCE!!!

Damn it – I have a bug in the game... in the tavern, a defeated computer-controlled hero appeared in two slots... when hiring him, I can't transfer the army from the castle (it just doesn't show up)... and if I attack another hero with him... the computer fights for me – against itself... what can I do??? ;) True, the result isn't great anyway... but still =)) I hope I can fix everything by tomorrow =)

I wonder if anyone will be able to get the heroes in the computer game to perform the desired sequence of moves. I couldn't – they clearly scatter to the corners. Moreover, one of them has a "phenomenal" performance that resembles the fourth stage of the Kanigam challenge. Everything is captured, but the Sorceress is skillfully retreating into the snow with her starting army. While there's still time, I'll try replaying.

If I understand correctly, can we submit saves until 24:00 on February 1st?

by the way, I would like to hear the reasoning behind introducing restrictions on visiting skeletons, etc. ... after all, everyone is on equal footing. Maybe this is what discourages people from participating in offline events.

As far as I understand, there's a bug... namely, visiting all of this gives different amounts of money, etc. ... i.e., there's a chance to achieve different results....
Hmm. Am I right?

The artifact obtained from the skeleton is not clearly defined, and by using save-loading, any artifact can be obtained from it. Agree, knowing this, and taking boots or a compass from it, I will be in a more advantageous position compared to you, who doesn't know about it and received Fizbin there and then struggles with it.

Everyone who has played the first game even a couple of times knows about this simple fact, and the same applies to the cave and so on. Everyone is on equal footing – dig what you think is necessary... I am for abolishing this rule. And the same goes for buying the same hero multiple times during a turn.

I am for canceling this rule. And the ability to buy the same hero multiple times in one turn is also a problem.
Generally speaking, I can agree with the first half of the post, but for the sake of simplicity, they probably decided to ban it. Although, you can still imagine scenarios. For example, the computer dug up boots in a skeleton, you killed it, and there are no complaints.

But regarding buying the same hero multiple times... it's more complicated. You can buy a hero, run in one direction, fire him, buy him again, go in another direction, level him up there, and do this in each of the available castles. That is, it's complete nonsense. Overall, I'm against it.

I've played Heroes 1 a bit more than "a couple of times" – but I didn't know about this – as I never had to use it... Of course, after a reload, there was sometimes nothing there instead of the artifact... and I even remember one time when the artifact changed – but I didn't pay attention to it.
P.S. I think the rule (with the ban) should remain – as it is an unnecessary reason to engage in generating – which, in turn, does not reflect the player's skill, but only the amount of free time they have. At worst, create a separate tournament "to test such knowledge and details" – but not for all tournaments.

I didn't know about that.

P.S. I believe that the rule (with the ban) should be kept – as it is an extra reason to engage in generating – which, in turn, does not reflect the player's skill, but only the availability of free time. In the worst case, create a separate tournament "to test such knowledge and details" – but not for all tournaments.
I completely agree.

Good day, dear Heroes 1 fans! RAPER, the bug you described is unknown to me, so it is of great interest. Could you please send me the save file to my email address so I can take a look? Romanuel, regarding the restrictions: - On the Shipwreck, there is a completely random combination of artifact drops after a battle. You can get either the worst or the best artifact, so this tactic is prohibited in offline tournaments, and visiting this location is therefore forbidden during tournaments. - In the Demon Cave and the Graveyard, a similar situation occurs when an artifact drops. - The Skeleton, if it drops an artifact, does so randomly, so using this tactic (visiting Skeletons) is also prohibited in offline tournaments. This issue will be discussed in more detail in the unified guide for Heroes 1. P.S. Since I am leaving on a business trip from Moscow to Volgograd on February 4th for a period of 2 weeks to 1 month, the 5th stage of the tournament will be held immediately upon my return. I hope you understand. Sincerely, VDV_forever

I sent the save file, even twice, because I forgot to title the email. I don't even want to talk about the result. It's clear that it could be generated much faster in one day. By the way, none of your arguments convinced me. But it would eliminate the need to check save files. Everything would simply be allowed. Everyone would be on equal footing. The only restriction would be on redeeming another player's hero of a level higher than the first. As for the generation time, I specifically checked: it takes 15 minutes to dig up any of the available artifacts in the dungeon and cave. But the time it took to generate the necessary moves for the AI when it took its turn was so long that I simply decided to replay the last two turns when I saw that the AI player had visited the dungeon. Again... it could have taken any item. That is, you spend a full turn with two battles. Then you see what it dug up (10 replays just in this episode). And only then do you move forward. This is to say that it takes incomparably more time for such operations than to implement the carefully condemned (as something shameful) desire to dig up the desired artifact.
