To get to the point, I'll start with my opinion. I like the sixth installment the most. The seventh one doesn't quite appeal to me, and it feels unfinished – in the sense that it's a bit boring. The eighth one is good, with its graphical improvements, but I don't even want to talk about the ninth. In the sixth game, I especially liked the locations: Monolith, Garik's Laboratory, Alamos, and Kriegspire. I've almost finished the game, and I was in the Hive location, but my computer crashed, and I didn't have any saves left. I only have saves from the Necromancer castle. But I have a slightly off-topic question. I reinstalled my system and am installing the collector's edition of the game because I really want to finish the sixth game. But it won't launch. Some kind of error message appears. Maybe it's because of Windows. I'm using XP. Can you please advise me on what to do? I'd hate for this to happen. I want to fully explore the secrets of the sixth installment and find out the ending. :smile15: :smile45: :smile45: :smile45:

I don't know, when I upgraded from a Pentium 3 to a D, the game said it was an unknown Pentium during installation. Could you upload a screenshot of the error?

An error pops up out of nowhere, and the application is about to close, even though it hasn't even started. Everyone tells me it's because of Windows. It used to work fine before.

I say to everyone: "Have you tried compatibility mode?". With the current settings, Windows XP can't play the intro video and it freezes, right? The screen turns gray and then you get an error, am I right? If so, set compatibility to Windows 98; if not, set it anyway.

I also had the same problem when I upgraded from a Pentium. Might and Magic 6 and 7 stopped working for me, which is a shame.

In my opinion, the 6th installment is one of the best RPGs. Even 7 and 8 seem a bit lackluster compared to the 6th one. But who would I recommend it to? No one can play it anymore, they say the graphics are terrible. And I've played this game at least 10 times. Ah, nostalgia... Regarding the hint topic, I recommend going to the NWC office at the very beginning of the game. If you don't have teleportation, you can simply die to return. Another nuance: in one of the rooms, there's a cube on the table from which chainmail is taken. Every other time, a +36 chainmail is taken from it. I highly recommend reloading if you don't find it. By the way, as far as I understand, the contents of the chests are generated when you enter the location. So, some chests have a chance of containing an artifact or relic. For example, in Blackshire, in the chest near the werewolf lair, where the quest shield is located, I found one or two of them. Also, regarding the chests, I recommend paying close attention to all "suspicious" items. That is, if you hover your mouse over a torch or a stone, and there is no text indicating that it is a torch or a stone, then it is a chest or a torch with money

and I recommended it to my friends, and now they all play it :) despite the graphics... they even organized a competition to see who could complete it the fastest... it captivated everyone...

it's just a long game, especially the first time you play it... it's not immediately clear where and what to look for... that's why many got stuck halfway through (I was one of them :)).

I played it so much that I still remember where to find, say, masters of light magic, swords, spears, bows, etc. Although the last time I played was about three years ago, because at that time I remembered everything by heart. And the fact that it's big is one of its advantages.

I agree... but in today's world, there's simply not enough time, which is probably why they make beautiful shooters that can be enjoyed in just one or two evenings.

Yeah, that's true. Sometimes it gets funny after hearing phrases like "12 hours of gameplay" or something similar. It's different from the old days – games like MM6 and BG2, which took weeks to complete. Although, there are still some decent modern games like HL2 and SWkotor, but the small percentage of such games is discouraging.

I also spent about a week, maybe a little more, completing BG, assuming I played all day (cleared all locations). KOTOR took about the same amount of time, but only because I got stuck in some places (pirated version :)).

I actually finished BG quite recently, this winter. I played Might and Magic 6 in the spring... I still haven't had time to finish it... :(

I want to note that this is the first part on the forum that has sparked such a lively discussion, unlike the first five.

Yeah, Heroes 6 is amazing. I haven't seen such scale, originality, and atmosphere in almost any other game. And old games were just better overall. Some of my friends watched it and didn't understand. But this game is simply a masterpiece.
By the way, Imp, can you tell me where exactly I need to click? I've gone through everything, and then, just for fun, I read a walkthrough and compared it. And there's this place and another one. In the Prince of Thieves' hideout (icy lands), supposedly, you can find some answers. Does anyone know anything about it?

I have the collector's edition from Booki. The game blew me away from the very first minutes:smile54:. The graphics aren't the most important thing in this game; what matters is the interest it generates. I only recently started playing! I figured out on my own how to use the scroll of flight, but I was told about the "Easter egg" in the office. When you touch the Sanctuary and leave the office with 10 items, after drinking potions and getting some good items, the game will start to flow smoothly! The monsters won't seem so strong (because the Sanctuary gives 20 units to all characteristics!) and it will be more fun to play:smile20:. And what locations! So many quests and challenges! This is probably the best game in the world!:smile47:. By the way, I also have a bug – the scrolls that cure various diseases or simply heal hit points (like Cure Wounds, Neutralize Poison, First Aid, Cure Disease, and other scrolls of that kind) are endless (and not just in turn-based mode!). This is what makes it so great for me – I can heal after a battle with monsters and then go to another one! Overall, the game is amazing! It's very interesting to play!:smile03:
