I ordered a chair on Wildberries, a gift to myself for the new year

And yes, I've already put a lot of things in the fridge and don't know when I'll get around to finishing them. Today, I'll just finish the sandwiches so they don't go bad by morning. For the new year, I wanted all sorts of delicious things, and a lot of them, but in reality, I should have limited myself to half the menu and prepared twice as little as I had planned.

And I just ordered some sushi rolls...

And I just cooked some rice.

Because you are awesome and know how to accurately estimate how much food you can handle...

Cantina Lavis Codros Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Nose: powerful, black berries, Kentucky tobacco, caraway, black pepper, chocolate
Taste: much more acidic than desired, earthy-tobacco, tannic

Good, full-bodied, one might think, but the acidity is a bit high and overall it's a little harsh and disjointed for its age. And it needs a lot of time to breathe; right after opening, it was quite disappointing.

Me and my possible relationship with Jack...

I can't describe it as beautifully as Alex could, and I'm not entirely sober to do so, so I'll share my impressions as best I can. First, I tried it neat, as suggested by my husband, because he wasn't aware that I hadn't tried Jack neat before (in our lives, this is the third bottle, but back then we were drinking in a large group, and I chose alternatives like wine or something else). Then, I continued to drink it with cola and ice. I'll immediately note that I usually can't stand whiskey in any form, but I agreed not to spend money on champagne because Jack had been sitting in our liquor cabinet for almost a month. And, overall, I suddenly liked the drink, but more in cocktail form.
In general, it's easy to drink, and there's some kind of herbal bouquet, but since it's too harsh on the throat when drunk neat, and I can barely distinguish aromas due to a cold, I preferred a simpler option with cola and ice. In a cocktail, Jack was excellent; 4 glasses were enough to relax and not pay attention to how the city froze, because there was absolutely no activity, no fireworks, or anything like that. In short, I recommend it if you want to drink something while watching a movie and simultaneously forget about the depressing reality, ideally while having a conversation with at least one living person.

Sky is not a Lifeform, so it doesn't consume alcoholic beverages. And moreover, it doesn't celebrate New Year's or any other days that are no different from all the others.

Nutty mead. Didn't quite work for me, too sweet, heavy, and overpowering. But I'm an old, wise alcoholic, and I know that if something isn't drinkable, you need to add some alcohol. I mixed it with brandy, but rum would be even better. It's drinkable this way, but there are still better options.

Nose: black berries, apple, bitter herbs, vegetables
Taste: black berries, star anise, oak, moss, sumac, a very slight hint of coffee, rich but not harsh

Excellent balance, not tannic or acidic, very rich, but needs to breathe. Excellent. One can contemplate it and it is very pleasant to drink.

If life is fading, there's no point in getting active. I'm old too, I'll be dying soon, I can just relax with a drink while waiting for death. I recommend it.

So, you're into biker culture and bourbon, but you make wine? Okay.
Peppery, phenolic, drinkable, and the balance is good. A normal table wine without any surprises.

Smokehead High Voltage 58%
Before I could gather my thoughts for a proper review, the bottle was empty.

Nose: smoke, iodine, machine oil, with just a hint of dried fruit. If you add water, you'll get gasoline and walnuts.
Taste: heavy, but not harsh, slightly salty, dry, the smoky-peaty notes dominate the entire palette, with perhaps a hint of rosemary or pepper, but only when you add water.
Finish: pure iodine and peat, with a bit of malt if you add water.

Very aggressive, not very complex, the only good thing about it is the high alcohol content. You can have a shot in the evening and get a good night's sleep. It's the most phenolic thing I've ever drunk, and I don't mind a bit of smoke, but here it's overwhelming. The whisky is simply uninteresting, a low-class whisky, to put it bluntly. Yes, it's drinkable, yes, it's even pleasant, but it lacks that "wow" effect, that dozen associations that we usually spend so much money on whisky for. There's none of that here.
