Guys, how do you determine the version?

This applies to the shortened version. I'll check the full disc image at home. I also downloaded it. Maybe it will work with that.
No activation required
It's a multi-boot disk, you can play it from a virtual drive
using Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools - CD-ROM emulators.

I also noticed a small detail that might help the game run (hopefully, this will help those who had trouble launching the game and encountered errors).
Basically, you download the game itself and the patch that prevents the game from asking for the disc (i.e., No-CD). You can find these in this thread by reading the messages from earlier.
After downloading these two archives and extracting them, install the game (this should be straightforward). Then, extract the No-CD files into the game folder. And launch the game not from the original Heroes executable (it's called heroes.exe), but from the cracked file that was in the No-CD archive, which will be called heroes_cr.exe. And that's it, the game launches, and no errors occur. ;)
I hope you won't encounter any more errors and can enjoy the first part of Heroes!!!=))) :smile02:

2. Tournaments are held on the Russian version 1.1 of Heroes 1 from Buki (playing on other versions of the game is prohibited, including English versions).
You can find the game version in the "Help" menu -> "About Heroes of Might and Magic".
Playing on other versions is prohibited.
You can only play on the "Buka" version 1.1.
