I liked the idea about Santa's elves; I've already come up with a seventh level for them! But seriously, enough with the elves, and we don't need any more variations.

It would be great to create a faction based on Slavic mythology; there are many creatures to choose from, and we could come up with some kind of wizard magic.
And what cool ideas they came up with regarding the Slavs! It would be interesting to see such a faction! It could include various water spirits, forest spirits, mermaids, gods, and so on:rolleyes:
Why is everyone so obsessed with these Nagas? As neutral creatures, they're acceptable, but the idea of making an entire race out of them seems strange to me.

I don't really care about the Naga. I feel sorry for the Efreet and werewolves, though! In general, 10 factions are needed. Besides the Swamp faction, we need another faction specializing in lightning. Something like the Nighon would work.:)
Here's a question: what exactly constitutes a "neutral" faction? And even the concepts of "good" and "evil" are very relative. For example, Haven is considered "good," but in the second campaign, they behave quite ruthlessly. And the Tribes of the East are considered "evil" (as one of the developers of Heroes of Might and Magic V said, they were created based on R.A. Salvatore's book "Dark Elf," and after reading it, I have to agree – they are indeed very similar. In that book, the Dark Elves, or Drow, were truly rare and ruthless individuals, far surpassing even demons!). But in all the campaigns, they "do good," as Shura would say. And in the case of the Tribes of the East, it's just unbelievable – Necromancers are actually "good" too!
6 races would be quite enough. P.S. "race" is spelled with one "s", lol.
In my opinion, that's not enough... When the first expansion wasn't released, everyone wanted more races, so they released two more. Now, is someone unhappy about that? P.S. I apologize, but "race" is spelled with one "s".

In my opinion, there are two paths regarding the number of factions... let's look at some examples...
First: Games like Age of Wonders, with 12 factions in the first part, then 16+. The balance is non-existent, but people play because of the variety, the partial uniqueness of each faction, and so on. Currently, the game is dead and only a few fans remember it...
Second: The game Starcraft - THREE factions. The balance is almost perfect, and the factions are ABSOLUTELY different. It participates in all esports competitions in the world. In Korea, it has become a religion. After NINE years since its release, it remains the BEST strategy game.
Personally, for me, balance and uniqueness are better than many pseudo-different factions.
I completely agree, it's better to have fewer, but higher quality factions!:smile01: :smile02: Ideally, I think 8 is the right number. How can you even talk about balance when there are 20 factions in the game:confused:

Why more? If they made a separate, interesting campaign for each race, then let there be 20, I wouldn't mind. But now there are 6 races, and there's only one campaign, and it's for humans, and it's nonsensical.

Generally, I am almost completely satisfied with the number of factions that currently exist in "Heroes 5." But if someone wants to create new factions (or submit ideas to Nival so that they can create them), I have the following idea:
In the lore of the Might and Magic series, it is written that in the Seven Cities, wizards were heavily involved in genetics, trying to create servants to replace orcs, and they created various half-human, half-beast creatures.
In principle, this could be used to create a new faction – the Beastfolk. The lore could state that the Beastfolk fled from the wizards: centaurs went to the orcs, minotaurs went off on their own and were later enslaved by the dark elves, and the remaining peoples, who were not numerous enough to survive on their own, were forced to unite and flee to a remote steppe, where they lived in seclusion. This steppe was so remote, and their seclusion so deep, that, in fact, no one knew of the existence of the Beastfolk.
Until they grew stronger, got back on their feet, and emerged from their remote steppe... let's say, to take revenge on the wizards.
This faction could include units from the Swamp and Dungeon factions of "Heroes 3" that were not included in "Heroes 5" – gnolls, lizardmen, harpies, medusas... but preferably not all of them; we also need to create new creatures.
Alignment – more or less neutral, except they hate wizards.
Magic – I'm not sure about this. Either they should be given the same treatment as the orcs – that is, deprive them of magic, give it to individual units, and come up with some ability that partially replaces magic, or they should be given a new Dragon and, accordingly, magic.

It's not nonsensical, it's a normal campaign!
