And again, the characters still don't touch me much.

Of all the characters in the film, I saw humanity in only two – the partisan commander and the blond German officer. I will admit one thing – it was disgusting. The scene with the partisan whore in the forest is ultra-creepy, and the main character is creepy, and everyone there is creepy. Their appearance, the sounds they make, their manner of movement, their facial expressions – they are extremely repulsive, and it is impossible to classify them as belonging to the species *Homo sapiens*. It's not the scenes of their extermination that are horrifying, but the scenes of their survival. Remember, I wrote about the "third devil"? This is how it manifests itself.
