I promised not to write in Russian on the HW forums to avoid getting banned. But I'll still write this first post. Basically, historically, everyone has been using ICQ. I even resurrected my old seven-digit account when I started playing on HW (my six-digit account disappeared somewhere in the meantime). But lately, everyone has been having serious problems. First, ICQ was banned in Ukraine, and now they're banning alternative clients. How much longer will we have to put up with this?
The question is: how long will this continue? The idea of an alternative is emerging. I think if all Heroes players move to one client, it would be great.
Requirements: 1. Ease of joining. I log in, at most I enter my email (once), and then I can see everything, communicate, and so on. 2. Multiple clients. Browser, desktop, mobile (and not just mobile like Telegram). 3. Individual and group communication.
In my opinion, Slack would be a great fit for us (not an advertisement). The question is: let's organize a move away from ICQ and move there. Obviously, someone with authority (like Dirty_player), and not Ihromant, should create the channel. So, two questions:
1. Are you willing to switch from ICQ once and for all? 2. Is anyone with authority willing to take on the organization of the move?
Let's discuss.
For English Users: we are discussing the idea of moving away from ICQ to an alternative and modern communication tool. My suggestion is to move to Slack.

I personally encountered the "new conveniences" of ICQ last weekend. This endless loading without the application ever fully loading, resulting in the need to use the web version, and before that, there were also issues with verification – enough is enough. ICQ has long ceased to be a convenient and technically stable service. And ICQ is already as outdated as a mammoth. It's time to move with the times, so I'm all for the migration!
ICQ is DEAD! Write here: my discord account is flate#4193 __________________ I'm fucking Luck like a dirty BITCH! :smile51:
I agree about Slack; moreover, in this case, we don't even need to create anything new. It was created recently and is already being used by a limited group, including Dirty_Player.
I agree with the idea about moving to Slack; moreover, we've already created it recently for private usage, but that could be used for all HeroesWorld players.

Well, just write without using profanity, and everything will be fine.
Regarding changing the client, I started seriously considering this issue a couple of months ago, and even asked for the opinions of some users. Among the options, I considered Skype, Discord, and WhatsApp. The latter seemed pretty good, but it was quickly ruled out because everyone would essentially have to post their phone number online, which many are, of course, not willing to do, plus, as it turned out, not everyone has a smartphone. Skype, which changes with each version and not for the better, also didn't really please people. We even tried to create an HW channel in Discord, but that idea also failed. But with the demise of QIP, the problem seems to be relevant again. Let's discuss what default messenger you would like to see as a communication tool?
As for Slack, at first glance, it seemed to me like the same Discord, only in a browser version. Maybe I'm wrong, but the system seemed very similar.
Ideally, it would be good to integrate a communication tool directly into HW, so that you don't have to use something external.
Otherwise, I think that the default version should be something well-known among a wide audience, where everyone doesn't have to register or learn something new. I would suggest Skype. But I feel that people are so attached to ICQ that this conversation will end in nothing.
Ideally, a communication system should be integrated into the game itself, so that players wouldn't have to use third-party applications.
As a backup option, communication could be done through the lobby. But for this, we need to convince the developers to make it possible to send private messages offline. And players should indicate their lobby nickname when registering for tournaments (many have a different nickname than their in-game one).

It feels like the new ICQ client was written by incompetent developers... but developers with an incredibly large ego and a penchant for low-quality code!
I have nothing against ISQ; it works stably, and I have no complaints. But if everyone decides to switch to Discord, I'll move there too.
Well, maybe ISQ stands out due to its stability! ;)
But as for the topic at hand, i.e., ICQ after 02/01/2018, it's just something else! And I personally can't leave it because the people I've been communicating with since 1999 mostly use ICQ. They do have other messengers, but ICQ is like the default option; it's like warm water for washing your hands!

Discord is more likely one of the copies of Slack, since Slack was developed long before it. Moreover, there is an open-source engine, an alternative to Slack, which looks very similar, and there is a suspicion that Discord is using it, simply customizing the interface in its own way https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server
Ideally, it would be good to integrate a communication tool into HW so that you don't have to use something third-party.
If specific requirements are formed for what this communication tool should be able to do, then it would be possible to create a minimalist version for HW, so that it can only do what is needed and nothing more, this is even the best option, which would not require players to register anywhere else.
So, I'm waiting for a list of specific requirements so that I can more accurately assess this prospect.

Personally, I don't care whether it's Discord or Skype. I'm against WhatsApp due to its strong link to mobile phones. Regarding Skype, in recent years, everyone feels a reduction in usability (for instance, the new client lacks convenient features), so I don't think moving there is a very good idea because it's just not a very convenient tool right now (and I suppose it will be less and less convenient eventually). Regarding Discord, yes, it can be a very good alternative, so if everyone agrees on that, I would also agree. Regarding the difference between Slack and Discord: they are actually very similar in their basic functionality. But their areas of interest are different. Slack is mostly used by teams and companies (usually software developers, etc.) because of its many integrations with different tools (build tools, website APIs, etc.). Discord considers itself a platform designed for gamers. So, it has a built-in TeamSpeak, integration with Steam, etc. From a moving standpoint, we can use Slack (because the Creator has already created one), registration there is very simple and straightforward, and usage as well. We can also use Discord (in this case, you or someone else should create channels and other infrastructure for H3 gamers). It actually doesn't matter.
One more thing: in Slack, you can have the same nickname as in Heroesworld, which will simplify recognizing you by other players; in Discord, there might be problems (correct me if I'm wrong).
One important thing: in case of moving, we need someone who will create a manual about which can then be posted somewhere like "how to start communicating with H3 players." In this case, the transition will be easy and seamless, and everyone will be able to point newcomers to this post with RTFM.
Added 2 minutes ago Update: thanks to the Creator for the clarification. If Discord is just a fork of Slack, there is no need to move to Discord specifically. Slack is a better alternative, I suppose.

I agree about saying goodbye to ICQ. It's dying out.
I disagree with Skype – it's ICQ #2. After Microsoft took over, Skype could have been forgotten immediately. But out of habit, some people are still clinging to it. Those who don't want to bother installing Discord (I'm one of them; I only recently installed it because of Game of Thrones and am now happy). Now, Skype is just as useless and unnecessary as ICQ.
Options directly related to phones don't even need to be considered.
In conclusion, I support Slack or Discord. It doesn't matter which one specifically, as long as it works.
Two key actions:
(1) Once an authoritative leader is determined, create a proper guide for everyone on how to install it.
(2) For the Creator, it's time to add Discord and Slack to the profiles on the forum (there's currently ICQ there, along with completely unused AIM, MSN, and Yahoo).
And move everything else below. Specifically, move the three unused options from the top to the bottom, where Skype, Viber, WhatsApp, VKontakte, Facebook, and everything else are.
And add Discord, Slack, and probably Telegram right next to ICQ.
And make sure this information is displayed immediately in the messages under the nickname, not just ICQ.
With this, the transition will be as smooth as possible within a year. When creating new tournaments, you can stop accepting entries without a new messenger, and things will quickly improve.
