Another pleasant aspect of your spar is that the pool will be diluted with summer characters, which reduces the chance of getting a second copy of a character you already have.
I felt this strongly when I got a golden Moon, even though I only had 4 characters. By the way, I had forgotten about it, so it's 2 out of 80, not 1 as I thought before. Statistically, however, it's still almost twice as low as average, and it's hard to consider getting a Moon in that situation as a good draw.

Well, with interesting characters, the thing is that it all depends on the length of the list of interesting ones.
I reviewed the list of regular premium characters. There are exactly half of them that are "simply interesting," while about ~10% are "especially interesting." So, it's like a coin flip. In the summer and grand series, the percentage is much higher. So, statistically, the chances should be good, but somehow you don't really rely on them.

I looked through the list of Katans – there are only five of them in the regular premium. If I don't take Narmaya, I should probably forget about Kengo.

Well, or I can slowly start farming for Colossus/running around in Arcarum. And then I might be able to gather ten catapults. And I can also supplement the rest with silver from the premium wood, if I'm short a few.

I didn't forget anyone, but I used a system of 3 elements per faction to avoid making the list too long and to make it more consistent. The most difficult choices were for Haven and Inferno.
