Will there be sabers?

I always prefer the younger ones, though.
But it seems I'm the only one, so it's not easy to find decent art.
Not like Gensen, but still.

You've filled this place with all sorts of nonsense (except Nebka, he has good taste)... Wash your eyes with soap; they need to be ready to behold true beauty. This is the most extensive collection so far and the most difficult one in terms of finding items. Alright, let's begin.
Modern science isn't entirely sure if Poland can reach space, but it definitely excels at making sabers. I present hussar sabers and similar ones: austere and practical.








And also elegant carabels





Before we move further east, let's take a look at "ordynki" as well. Personally, I like them much less than any other type of saber, but maybe someone will find them appealing.

As you know, the East is a delicate matter... Turkish yatagans. Not always should the word "delicate" be understood literally. I present to your attention the Gaddare sabers. Unfortunately, they are not very popular to make and even less so to photograph properly, hence the rather rough appearance. But we can still appreciate such an unusual blade shape – both brutally wide and exquisitely curved at the same time:

And Persian shamshirs. My favorites.










And a couple of dubious devices with Turkish hilts and slightly curved blades. One was called a shamshir, the other – a scimitar. What a scimitar is remains a mystery to me, but they hardly resemble a shamshir.

For those with refined tastes – Indian and Afghan sabers. I don't quite understand them, but there's something appealing about them. Perhaps it’s a problem with my rigid mindset, which only accepts leather, wood, or at most bone handles, and nothing else.






Here are a couple more that don't fit into any of the categories, but they are still very interesting.


And then there are shashkas. I really dislike them, at least from an aesthetic point of view; I don't like either the handle or the overall geometry of the blade. But firstly, many people love them, and secondly, these few are made very well.

Polish hussars are top-tier. Karabels are decent. Everything else isn't really my cup of tea.

What a scimitar is – remains a mystery to me.

And yet, for some reason, game developers really like to include them in games, where they serve as an improved version of a saber.

According to one version, a scimitar is a generic name for curved blades with a significant fuller, similar to a klych.
Others claim that it's basically the chupacabra of the Heroes of Might and Magic world – everyone has heard of it, but no one has actually seen it.
