I agree, portalcraft is cool. However, I'm still at the stage of "playing a bunch of games to figure out how to win with it." I'm playing with one Deuos and without Spinaria – I currently have enough dust for only one legendary card (after crafting a few gold cards), and I don't really want to spend more. It feels like the deck I've built is quite dependent on the draw: either you play acceleration and cycle through tons of cards per turn like a miracle rogue, or you're stuck with an almost empty hand and praying for a draw/Deuos from the top deck. I'm even trying Mystic Ring as an additional draw option.
I put together a couple of decks for the rotation and played a bit. The aggro-elf deck is great; it tears through opponents left and right, although I'm not sure if I have the best build in the world – I just put it together based on my own preferences. It only has one Aria, and I'm not sure how good she is in an aggro deck, but so far, it's working well. I'm having trouble with the mid-range deck; I lost a lot of matches in mirror matches (!), and I'm thinking about crafting Aisha, but the thing is, none of the losses were against Aisha; the opponents were playing almost the same cards. I saw Shadow Reaper and am thinking about using it, but I'm not sure. I don't feel like playing with the Portal deck, and I was just doing daily quests anyway.
In the last two days, I only fought against Sylvan once and lost badly. The player was trolling and buffing their units so much that I couldn't take them down with my puppets and AoE. It's strange that no one plays this class.
Either you use acceleration and play 100,500 cards per turn like a Miracle Rogue, or you sit with an almost empty hand and pray that you draw cards/Deus Ex from the top deck. I'm even trying Mystic Ring as an additional option for drawing cards.
I've never had problems with drawing cards – I've only had an empty hand three or four times in several dozen games. Metaproduction and the lion-robot provide a lot of card-drawing artifacts; you just need to draw at least one with Fervent, and then it's just a matter of technique. There's also a spell for 0 mana, but it's specific and doesn't fit into every deck. And there's the gold girl for 5 mana.
while I was writing the post, I got a second Cerberus – hello, 1000 dust
Yes, the forest is good. I've seen some test builds, but I haven't tried them myself yet.
I'm saddened by the state of the Blood class in the rotation. It has the worst win rate, only surpassed by the Portal class, and that's because it's a new class and people haven't fully figured out what's going on with it. But in unranked matches, playing an aggressive Blood build equals easy wins.
As for me, it's amusing. Many games against Revan Blood were very irritating, when the controlling player just throws in their dishonest 5-5-5-5 female vampires and enjoys uber-well. Seriously—why not heal up and at the same time wipe out a five-stack with a fanfare? Oh, well own, let's also make it possible to do it to the face, why not.
I stopped getting bugged by Agro pretty quickly, but that's also sort of dishonest. Anyway, I'm not upset (ironically, despite all this, I have the highest level on Blood).
On the portal, I played about five games with Blood in rotation, and lost only once today; otherwise, it's a perfect winrate.
However, I also had to do my daily on Heaven today in unlim—Storm isn't in rotation, and Aegis is very bad.
When I started playing concede-to-blood myself, I understood what the point was. You can’t just throw down Cthulhu and follow up with Azazel on the next turn; you need to heal and clear the board because if you don’t heal and clear the board, you’ll get swarmed, and you’ll end up sitting there like an idiot with your Cthulhu and Azazel for ten rounds, shaking in fear of getting hit by flying units, while your opponent slowly builds up their resources, concedes, and then goes on to write a post about how they were tormented by yet another control vampire.
This is when you have a terrible board position. And if it's even or if you're winning, then Cthulhu is the final nail in the coffin. I don't get too upset about it, probably because I haven't played that much against him in Wonderland.
I decided to test one thing out for fun, and it worked out really well.
1. Place Spinaria on the battlefield.
2. Attach two artifacts to her.
3. Attack with Spinaria (with evolution) at the King, leaving him with 1 HP.
4. End your turn without taking any damage from the ghosts' ability, because apparently Spinaria's ability is coded the same way as Forest Will – as one continuous AoE effect.
Ah, unlimited, land of wonders, land of marvels. I finished it with just one (!) cockroach. Two fairies for 0, a wisp, three circles of fairies, two fairies, a cockroach, Guidance, a cockroach.
Played the Portal for the first time, specifically in the Take Two version. I only managed to win three times, though. It has a rather interesting mechanic, for sure. But it looks quite intriguing.
Well, not exactly OTK, but some funny moments happened.
You could see how the guy struggled with himself for several turns in a row, sitting on his last evolution and not using it on himself, but at the last moment he still gave in, opened his mouth, drooled, and rushed into attack. How can you not hit him in the face with Albert when playing as Albert? A moderately amusing moment.
And here is a highly amusing moment. I don't even remember seeing such a greedy player recently. The guy decided to abuse a deck from the internet that features a strong meta class and sat on his gold for twenty turns (!), although he could have won many times over. Every Bahamut, every Izrafel goes through Sahu first; every Sibylle, every fervor must be used around turn 15+ with full HP; every Grimnir must be cast to destroy a couple of my low-health followers, otherwise it wouldn't be right; each Bahamut and Izrafel separately must be cast strictly when approaching fatigue; each mobster and dragoon braid must be traded with my followers. And where’s the rush, right? To screw up in an almost 100% winning matchup, dominating the entire game, healing, and clearing the board every turn? I laughed in his face.
Bahich in a portal deck? Funny, I'll have to test that. I'm not really clicking with this craft, although I like the gameplay very much. It seems I need more gold legendaries. Or maybe I'm just never lucky: half a deck of artifacts, yet topdecks keep giving me skirmish cards when I have acceleration and two Saphiras in hand. Even if drawing is okay, other crafts still manage to find their wincondition faster than you can ramp up those same Saphiras. Also, it seems blood is not only doing poorly in the ladder right now, but in the arena too? Went 1-4, I don't recall that happening before with this craft.
Bahich in the portal deck? Interesting, I should test it.
Today I decided to play with it, because I need more removal against dragons, and it's also useful against others when the game drags on. It also works well with the Protoss ship or acceleration. Regarding the lack of synergy - crafting is really bad against Shadow and Dirt Rune, which 80% of the players in the rotation have been using for the last couple of days. Shadow is understandable, but Rune just has a ton of unavoidable damage, I even added golden healer girls, but it's still hard to win. Izra also doesn't work. So, while you're setting up these crafts, they're already killing you, that's all. For the wood deck, you need Meta Production, the silver girl for 3, and the gold girl for 5, otherwise it's inconsistent. You look for the Deus Ex and then there's some chance, on acceleration and analyzing, the Sapphire speeds up quite quickly. I've removed Spinarry for now, it's become too difficult to play effectively. I also had some bad luck with the Blood deck on the arena today, but it didn't work well in two games, so I can't say anything yet. Some of the new cards are very strong.
Added 30 minutes later In general,
cards for the rush
if you're talking about the 3-1 rush, then I noticed that there is a problem. Three Icarus and three Kitties are too many, they clog up the artifact pool with their enchantments, which others can also add. So, I eventually reduced the number of both girls to two and added Meta Production, which I had removed some time ago, and it became much better, and a good first turn reappeared. Meta Production => Lion => Fervent - a much more reliable early game. Although I still feel that the deck is far from ideal.
