I invite all fans of Heroes 3 to take part in a JOINT tournament of two Heroes communities: HeroesWorld.ru and HeroesPortal.net

“Earth Magic”

General Tournament Rules:

1. To participate in the Heroes 3 Tournament, you must register on our website or on the HeroesPortal.net website. If you wish, you can also leave an application in this thread. By leaving an application, you will be notified about receiving your save in the application table.

2. The tournament is held on the Heroes 3: The Shadow of Death version with patch 3.2 or 4.0.

3. The goal of the game is to obtain the artifact – “The Book of Earth Magic” – in the shortest number of days. In case of a tie in the number of days, the second criterion will be the sum of primary stats (Attack, Defense, Spell Power, Knowledge) taking into account the equipped artifacts!
Note: The sum of primary stats is calculated directly in the final save (if the last action is a battle, the sum of stats is calculated before the battle!). In the final save, two heroes must remain (the rest of the heroes must be dismissed): the one performing the last action and the hero whose stats are counted; if these heroes are the same, only one should remain.

4. Discussion of the tournament during its course is PROHIBITED!!!
If the organizer or his assistant has documented evidence of a discussion of the tournament in any place on the Internet, he has the right to permanently disqualify such player(s) from participating in tournaments on www.heroesworld.ru. The results of such players will not be counted and will be annulled.
The tournament organizer also reserves the right to consider that the discussion of the tournament was between players if the players completed the tournament in exactly the same way.

5. This tournament is held according to the rules of HeroesPortal.net, which are practically no different from the rules of HeroesWorld.ru. You can familiarize yourself with the rules by following the links:

I would like to draw your attention to the following points:

1. All battles conducted in the tournament may be subject to
verification by the tournament organizers to confirm that they can be
repeated on any computer, and participants may be asked to provide
detailed descriptions of the battles they conducted.

If battles are repeated, the outcome of morale, luck, or abilities should
not be a decisive factor in victory (saving the army) and should not
be necessary when the tournament organizer repeats the battle.

A player may deviate from these rules and build their victory
on a single occurrence of morale, luck, or abilities and ask
the tournament organizer to replay the battle several times to
confirm the repeatability of its results.

In the event of a deviation from these rules, as well as the inability
of the tournament organizer to repeat any of the battles in the tournament
within 25 attempts, the participant's final save will be annulled.

2. Prohibition of escaping from the sea and subsequent movement of the redeemed hero, using navigation bonuses on land.
In other words, this prohibition applies to the following cases:
1. Using the hero's artifact “Admiral's Hat” or its components;
2. The hero has the “Navigation” skill of any level;
3. The presence (construction or taking control) of a Lighthouse(-s).
In other cases, escaping from the sea and moving the redeemed hero is allowed.

6. In the event of suspicion of a player cheating or other malicious intent when completing the map, it is necessary to save before each significant event (for example, before a battle, before hiring another hero). The result of a player who played unfairly, as well as one who did not send their description (saves) in a timely manner at the request of the tournament organizer, will be annulled, and their further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also affect their reputation, but not in a good way.

7. Sequence of actions to participate in the tournament:

7.1. Download the save.

7.2. The downloaded save must be placed in the GAMES folder of your installed Heroes 3 on your computer.

7.3. Load it and start the game at any time that is convenient for you, while remembering to make intermediate saves (at least at the end or beginning of each game day, or better, both at once).

7.4. After completing the last action (after which the victory occurs), you must save again. In the final save, two heroes must remain (the rest of the heroes must be dismissed): the one performing the last action and the hero whose stats are counted; if these heroes are the same, only one should remain.

Save name: The final save must be named after the participant's nickname.

7.5. A complete description of the tournament map is encouraged (not required).

7.6. Send this save to the addresses nmr@bk.ru and sub-zero-mil@rambler.ru

7.7. The email with the save must contain:
- the victory save itself;
- a description of the actions leading to victory (if it is necessary to win a battle and victory is not achieved in auto-battle – a detailed description of the battle tactics);
- an indication of the hero whose sum of parameters is taken into account as the second criterion for victory;
- an indication of nicknames on both resources.

8. The tournament starts on 07.08.12 and will last until 09.09.12 (inclusive, until 24:00 Moscow time). Only one final save is accepted from each player.
The results will be published no later than 13.09.12

The interest in the tournament lies in the fact that after completing it in N days, you replay and complete it in N-1 days, and then in N-2 days, and reach your maximum!

I already know that I made some mistakes at the beginning, which made me spend much more time (and resources). Marmot, you are wrong. This map is not meant to be played casually with a beer in hand without any prior analysis. This map is designed to be studied thoroughly so that you can achieve the best possible result.

a) for speed;
b) for maximum "leveling up".
So, in the first case, the player can "simply" do only the necessary actions to achieve the set goal. And in the second – collect all possible artifacts and achieve the maximum possible primary skills (Attack, Defense, Magic Power, Knowledge).
I am currently playing the map for the second time according to the first criterion; if everything goes smoothly, I will even participate in the tournament. And then I will tell you about how it went.
And the question is precisely this: if the player is obliged to take everything that is on the map, empty all the vaults, destroy all the monsters – then this should be clearly stated in the tournament rules! Because, obviously, completing the game according to option "b" requires much more time!
I am asking so that it does not turn out that I complete the game, but the result is not counted because I did not do something (although I will not worry: after all, it's just a game!;)).

As I see it, the result on this map for a pro player will be around 1 day. Marmot, if you think you're achieving the maximum possible result on the map in terms of days, then to compete with pro players, you need to acquire as many skills as possible. I glanced at the map, and I already understand that it won't be easy to complete quickly; the battles will be very challenging.

That's completely wrong. The main parameter is the number of days. If the number of days is the same for several players, then the second indicator comes into play - the sum of the parameters. For example:
100 days and 396 parameters are worse than 99 days and 6 parameters.
99 days and 6 parameters are worse than 99 days and 11 parameters.
Therefore, ideally, you should maximize both criteria, but the first one is much more important than the second.

It is not necessary to clear the entire map. You only need to do what will lead to victory.

I glanced at the map, but I already realized that you can't just rush through it.

I meant that I didn't fully grasp the author's entire plan. In simpler terms, I couldn't figure out the walkthrough – what to do and in what order. Of course, I'm not talking about an optimal walkthrough, but at least some kind of walkthrough. (It's just that I didn't study it thoroughly enough.)

Well, I finished it. Of course, it took a long time, and I could have skipped a lot of things. I could probably finish it much faster the second time... although, where would I have time to get all the champions! Oh well!

I'm not planning to rush to get all the champions either. But I think it's my duty to save the game to maintain the required number of players! :) And to reminisce a bit while playing against the AI. Besides, we can compete with other non-professionals, people like us. So, the main thing isn't to get first place, but just to participate. It's a heroic gathering! That's what it is! ) And setting a personal record is also nice.

Therefore:

I'm currently playing the map for the second time, following the first criterion; if everything goes well, I'll even participate in the tournament.
