Posts from Error when launching the game.

I bought a new computer, installed the game from an old disc, and when I try to launch it, a black screen appears first, with the game's image and title in the center (as it should be), and then a progress bar with the word "error" appears in the taskbar next to the launching game's progress bar (the error description window does not pop up; the whole process just freezes until I force-close the game window). The same thing happens when I launch any of the game's parts (installed from the Gold Edition disc). On my old computer, which I'm now retiring due to its eight-year age, the game ran without any problems, but on the new one, it refuses to work. Video card: Radeon HD 5570, 2 GB of RAM, 1 GB of video memory. Is there any way to fix this problem?

There might be a problem with the software, not the hardware. Since the computer is new, some drivers might be missing or something like that. I would start by reinstalling Windows on a different drive and downloading all the latest drivers from the websites myself. If the same error appears on different operating systems, then there is definitely something wrong with the hardware.
