CTPAHHuK (Necropolis) def. Tyler (Asylum) — Powerspot, 1m3w1d

I'm very glad that Tyler returned to Heroes 4. It's a pity he didn't have time to remember Powerspot. On his first start, on the very first day, he bought a druid to pair with a wizard and immediately took a restart, remembering that you can't do anything on PS without a tactician. The second time, he also leveled up incorrectly from the start and wasn't ready for the finale. Tyler leveled up both movement and diplomacy for the tactician, so his tactician didn't develop fully, and the resolution was not difficult for me. But if Tyler remembered how to play Spot, I would have had almost no chance. In 14 days, he managed to accumulate 45 Goblins, 2 Mega Dragons, and 2 Black Dragons. I wouldn't have been able to hold them back under a good tactician. Goblins split into 2 slots would flatten any Hero, let alone the Mega Dragons. I won't write about the finale itself or about Tyler's heroes, as the game didn't go well for him from the very beginning. I'll write about my own game.

I played as the top player.

The first start was ideal. Zubr saw how many Venoms I could accumulate at spawn — at the market, in 2 external dwellings, at the shrine, near the castle, near the small spot, and that's only in the area visible in the first two days. Plus Devils at the market and at the exit. Roba near the third castle in the sands. I was already counting on a serious power-up, but Tyler asked for a restart.

The second start was absolutely dull in terms of monsters. A mishmash everywhere, except for the Hags. Initially, I decided to join everyone in a row and save the Hags and lvl 3s. At the market were Bone Dragons and Knights, plus Venoms. At the exit were Knights, and near the small spot on the Major were Devils. The rest were various lvl 2 and 3 monsters. I didn't take a restart for only one reason: I saw the Book of Life under those very Devils, and in the university, I saw Mysticism.

I began development by capturing lvl 3 dwellings and liberating lvl 2s near the 3rd castle. After liberating the lvl 2s, I dove into the teleport and saw elementals on the gloves, and at the other exit, a bunch of mummies with skeletons. I gathered as much meat as possible in the army and, after joining 25 mummies, wiped out the rest. I visited the quest and went back into the teleport, this time to kill the elementals and take the gloves. I didn't take the gold one, as there were gargoyles there, and I had nothing to slow them down. Next on the plan — liberation of lvl 3 monsters, joining near the 2nd castle and around the small spot. The 1st week was ending.

A bit about buying the 3rd and 4th heroes. For a long time, I couldn't decide who to make the 3rd hero. A Mage or a Necro, maybe a Wizard. Only by the 7th day did I build all the guilds and extensions, and I saw nothing useful there. Neither a town portal, nor mass cancel, nor spell steal. Only disintegration. But it doesn't work against chaos. In short, only on the 8th day did I decide on the heroes — a Tactician, to make him a crusader and give him the book of life, and a Necro, to make him GM of death. Although I didn't know myself why I would need him.

On the 8th day, when the heroes were bought, I bypassed the small spot with my army and began calculating whether I could join the Devils on the Book of Life. It turned out I could, but I could only join 1, as the tactician was still low level, despite GM diplomacy. I lost one venom and moved through the teleport to the 3rd castle, looting the sands and heading to the monster market. In general, on the 3rd day of the 2nd week, I took the market, and the heroes bought 2 days ago, having gorged on chests and altars, were already Masters. By the 5th day, I was already in the second castle, ready to break through the exit to the center with a Ninja Master of Death, a Tactician Advance of Order, a Necro GM of Death, and a Crusader Master of Life. All heroes had already learned spells in the castles. A full set, since the ninja couldn't rely on GM death with 4330, and the Crusader could learn magic on the way to Tyler from the book of life. The Necro even opened necromancy via an altar near the lvl 5 Shrine to raise the Hags.

Now back to the monsters. Near the exit to the center stood a bunch of my slackers. 25 Venoms, some Vampires (about 10), 10 Ices, 1 devil, 3 Knights, 110 hags, and 4 heroes. Total 10 slots. I needed to kick three. Vampires and Ices stayed home anyway; the question was who to take, the Venoms or the Hags. I took the Knights and Devils with me because I could join a few more in the center. After consulting with Zubr and Shnurov, I decided to leave the Venoms at home for hit-and-run. It was more urgent to rush to Tyler, as each day of the 3rd week he could add 1-2 Black Dragons in the middle, which meant that a finale delayed to the end of the third week would end in a loss for me.

In short, with fast Ghosts, Knights, and Devils, I cleared the center in an arc and stood in the corner near the mountain by the neutral hero at the very end of the second week, seeing the Book of Death for sale at Tyler's. Right then Tyler entered the center through his passage and ended his turn near his quest next to a lvl 3 dwelling. He didn't buy the Book, apparently not noticing me, or not having enough gold.

On the first day of the third week, I destroy the neutral hero, join 2 more devils under the mountain, and attack Tyler.

Ninja Master of Death, standard fully leveled Tactician, GM Crusader with Book, GM Assassin 5555 with Book, 5 Knights, 9 devils, about 150 ghosts.
Thanked Tyler for the game. I hope to play with him again when he regains his former form :)

CTPAHHuK (Necropolis) lost to Camoes (Necropolis) — Spleen, 1m3w3d

It was a good game, but the result wasn't in my favor. I liked the pace of the game. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong path on day 5, and in the final battle, I couldn't offer significant resistance, so the game ended with a final battle without any chance of a hit-and-run strategy. It's not as fun to write about a game after a defeat as it is after a victory, but I'll try to remember the main points.

I played as the upper player.

I started as always by clearing out the Goblins and recruiting level 2 monsters. On the second day, they were already mine, and I moved to take the gold mine from Camoes. I was one step short on the third day, and I took it on the fourth. On the fifth day, I got Devils and started deciding where to go next.

I considered two options: either go to free the Runner and try to take the Green Boots with Devils and Grandmothers, or go from the other side of the mountains towards the same Runner, clear out the resource nodes, and build up Devils in my Castle faster. I chose the second path, only because after buying 2 Devils in the dwelling, I had 0 money left, and I needed to get gold for home improvements. Plus, with the second path, I recruited Vampires from a hidden stash. The second path turned out to be easier, safer, but significantly slower than the first.

In the end, I got the Runner and Devils in my Castle on day 8. I decided not to take the Boots, deciding that it was better to rush to the second Castle with the tavern and buy a hero there, and then to the third Castle. By that time, I planned to make the Mage I bought on day 8 a Master and teach him Town Portal. On day 3 of week 2, I was in the second Castle with a Mage Expert, the Runner Expert Patch, a starting Necromancer almost at Grand Master level, and a Tactician 5530.

Camoes was already a Grand Master Runner by this time, and he seemed to have the Boots. He also didn't take the Boots right away.

At this point, I already felt that my path was wrong. Next, I wanted to run through the wilderness towards the one-way portal and, by going through it, capture the third city. I didn't know what to do next. There were several options, and I couldn't decide. After consulting with Oxygen, I decided that after taking the third Castle, I would immediately rush to Camoes. This option could have worked with a bit of luck. But in reality, it turned out like this.

I took the third Castle on day 131, and my army already had a Mage Master who knew Town Portal. On the same day, I teleported for the Boots and started preparing to gather an army. On day 132, I reached the upper guard, and on day 133, after clearing my side, I saw that there were no guards on Camoes' side, and the Undead city was clear. I ran through Camoes' territory towards the Book of Life and stopped a few steps away from it.

By the way, I rushed to Camoes so early also because of this Book. I was worried that he was preparing a Crusader, and with this book, he would crush me. Although, in reality, even without the book, Camoes didn't have an advantage over me. This is because:

My setup: all-around swords, three useful artifacts - Medal +2 morale, Ring +20% attack, Cloak +30% resistance to units. That's it. No dispel or cancel in the three Castles. In the guilds on floors 4 and 5, there were Vampire Touch, Hypnotize, and Town Portal. Quite a challenge.

In the final battle, we were roughly equal. I had 3 Knights and 5 Devils. He had 2 Knights and 8 Devils. The heroes were roughly equal. He had a Grand Master of Death, a Grand Master of Order, a Tactician, and 2 underdeveloped Necromancers. I had a Grand Master of Death, a 455 Mage, a Tactician, and one underdeveloped Necromancer and Mage.

He had dispels and cancel, Hand of Death, etc. I had nothing.

There's nothing to write about the final battle. On maps of this type, you can't survive without dispels. We were defeated. I fought as best as I could.

Overall, the pace of the game was good, and clearing the guard on day 3 of week 2 didn't cause any problems, even with the wrong starting path. Therefore, the map finally interested me. With a couple more defeats on this map, I will learn to play it at a good level. There are opportunities on the map, and I will continue to practice.

I wished Camoes good luck in the championship; after all, losing to a champion is always more pleasant

UPS_Domas [Chaos] defeats BigAke [Fortress], Lezkandra, 8min, 1-2-1

Basically, the opponent surrendered on 1-2-1 (the game didn't go well for him: he didn't seem to have a good strategy, forgot to drink potions, and kept running away from neutral creatures, while I got lucky with artifacts (2 bags of gold, golden armor) and my development went according to plan...).

Thanks for the game.

Jel [Haven] def BigAke [Dungeon], Circle of Life, 8min, 1-2-1

Actually, I surrendered on 1-2-1. I miscalculated my strength and lost to the minotaurs on the way to my opponent's gold mine...

Thanks for the game.
