Why fear dreams?
The Middle Ages
We must no longer neglect.
It has pressed itself against our headboards;
Not we, but it is that needs us.
In the honking of cars, in the masses of gray buildings,
And in the glare of electric lights
We do not hear ancient spells,
We do not see stones coming to life.
1 General Provisions
The balance template can be downloaded in this thread: balance
This is a fan tournament; all games will count toward the seasonal Player Rating.
Arranging matches, as well as leaving reports and confirmations of played games, can and should be done in this thread.
The report on played games to the "seasonal games" thread is submitted by the organizers after each completed round.
Organizers: Avern and Loi.
2 Rules
We play on the balance template, according to HeroesWorld rules, difficulty 130%, size: L-U, game version SoD 3.2 (4.0), time control: 6 minutes per turn. With mutual consent, any deviation from the rules is possible (for example: playing by same-side/Chinese rules, playing on TE lite, etc.), except for the rule of fair play and the template ;)
3 Application for Tournament Participation
Applications for participation are submitted in this thread; you must specify: your HeroesWorld nickname, ICQ number, and convenient time to play.
For example:
Avern
594336178
weekdays, from 16-00 to 24-00, at any time by prior agreement.
Registration ends November 15, 2009, at 23.59 Moscow time
4 Regulations
The tournament is conducted using a single-elimination system; mini-matches are best-of-three (until one player reaches two wins). Two weeks are given for 2 games. If the players need to play additional games, the round will be extended by another week. The draw will be conducted as follows: once the final list of players is known, each will be assigned a number according to their Summer-2009 seasonal rating. After that, pairs will be formed: strongest against less experienced. For example, 8 participants, pairs: 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5. If the number of participants is not a power of 2, we will appoint a preliminary qualifying round.
Tournament start November 16, 2009
5 Tournament Goals
The organizers set the following tasks:
1-identify the strongest HeroesWorld player on the balance template in a fair and uncompromising struggle;
2-introduce players to the template, prove that it is quite interesting and playable.
A knockout system fits these goals perfectly. Anticipating possible complaints about the choice of "single-elimination," I will express my and Loi's shared opinion: there is only one place in a tournament—first. And if you find yourself paired with a strong player in the very first round, be happy:
-you have the opportunity to knock a strong player out of the game immediately-
-you have the opportunity to learn from a strong player-
-if you lose, you get free time for other tournaments-:D
6 Useful Information
7 Draw
Round 1 draw. In the first game, the player listed in the left column (Participant1) goes first; in the second game, it's the opposite (Participant2)
Round 2 draw.
Round 3 draw.

8 Surprise
As promised, I'm posting a photo of the surprise!

This is approximately what the winner's award will look like. Manufacturer: Kuznetsov Porcelain Factory (though these are no longer produced :D ), hand-painted - cobalt and gold. In essence, the elephant is a tea caddy, meaning it can hold tea or coffee. It could easily take a worthy place in your office or kitchen. And when guests—the representatives of the fair sex—exclaim: "Oh, where did such a wonderful little elephant come from," you can modestly reply: "Well, there was this one small tournament" :D
Why do I say it's an approximate look? Because by the end of the tournament, an inscription will be added to the prize: "To the winner of the 'Balance-2009' tournament." The winner's nickname can also be specified; the masters are still thinking about how to place the inscription in the most visible spot. ;)
9 Disputes and their Resolutions
In case of disputed situations, we will make decisive rulings—for the benefit of the cause and according to the rules of ХВ.
Remember that this is a game and we have all gathered to have fun. Good luck and morale to everyone!
