SECOND STAGE OF THE "VAN CANINGHAM" TOURNAMENT

1. To participate in the offline Heroes 2 tournament "Battle Before the Battle", you must register on our website and also submit an application in this thread.

P.S. This tournament is held as part of the general tournament in honor of Caninghem.

2. The tournament is held on the Russian version of Heroes 2 from Buky. The save will be generated on the Russian version.

3. The goal of the game is to defeat the enemy.
The result will be evaluated primarily based on the shortest time.
If several players have the same completion time, the best will be determined by the sum of primary skills (attack, defense, magic, knowledge) INCLUDING WORN ARTIFACTS (counted for the hero with the highest skill sum from those presented in the save); if a favorite still cannot be determined, then by the amount of mercury.

Note: If victory occurs during a turn transition, the final number of days will be taken from the table of final results, i.e., the day of the final save plus one.

4. In tournaments, the following are prohibited:

1. redeeming your dismissed heroes on the same day (i.e., using the "dismissal-redemption" technique);
   it is also not allowed to buy heroes who died in battle (do not confuse with those who fled)!
   
2. having a redeemed hero who fled or was redeemed in battle move on the day he fled or was redeemed. You can buy such a hero, but you can only move him on the next day;
   
3. buying heroes of a computer opponent who died or fled;
   
4. digging up UAs without fully opening the puzzle map;
   
5. Open discussion of the tournament on the forum during its conduct is PROHIBITED!!!
   (Players who violate this rule will automatically be disqualified from the tournament; their results will not be counted and will be canceled).
   
6. using any cheats or bugs in the "final" playthrough
   
7. using weeks and months with additional troop growth or plague. If a week "+5 monsters X", a month "monster X" or plague appears, the player must replay the week/month transition and achieve a neutral result. If there are difficulties in obtaining a neutral result, you must immediately notify the judge.

5. The player must save intermediate saves for each game day during the tournament.
Intermediate saves may be requested by the tournament organizer to verify the integrity of the playthrough. If the use of cheat codes is detected, as well as clearly indicated errors and features of the game that are prohibited, the player will be immediately disqualified from the tournament.

6. Together with the final save, players must send a description of the tactics of the final battle (the more complex the battle, the more complete).
If the victory depends on the outcome of morale/luck/certain actions of computer players, a complete description of the battle is required - one that can be repeated.

7. Send the final save to the email address kylegoogl@gmail.com. The sent save must contain the participant's number in the application table, the abbreviation (BPB - Battle Before the Battle), and the player's nickname. Example: 1_BPB_Qwerty.gm1.

8. The tournament starts on March 11 and will last until April 7 (inclusive). The results will be announced on April 11, 2008.

9. After receiving your save, you will see in the application table that:

All about the starting save

1. Download the save and the map.

2. The downloaded save must be placed in the Games folder in the folder where Heroes 2 is installed.

3. Load it and start the game at any time that is convenient for you, while remembering to make daily saves.

4. After reaching the last action (after which victory occurs), you must save again.

5. With the final save, describe this last step in detail (most likely the battle); then the results will be determined faster, and there will be fewer suspicions of cheating!!!

6. A complete description of the tournament map is encouraged (not required). If there are any, a competition will be held for the best description, 10 of which (the best) will take their place of honor in the "Feats of Our Best Heroes" section!

7. Send this save to the specified address (in the rules of this tournament).

8. Wait for the results to be announced.

I don't know, but I think there is absolutely no difference in behavior or the presence of bugs in the English version (if it's 2.1).

For example, on the League, there is a rule prohibiting the purchase of upgraded enemy heroes. But there is no such rule on the Portal.

You cannot purchase your fallen heroes on the same day. Computer-controlled fallen heroes cannot be purchased on the same day under any circumstances. On the next day, you can purchase a computer-controlled hero only if he is IDENTICAL to the starting hero. The tournament takes place for 10 months of the year (10 stages) - a tournament for all versions (1st version of Heroes - twice a year).
The 1st stage takes place for HMM 1 - it is still ongoing... there is 1 day left... =) For the 2nd stage for version 2 - you have now registered... The 3rd stage will be for version 3 (after the end of the 2nd stage), etc. 4th and 5th =) and then again with version 1...

Qwerty, will there be any delays with the map? (I really want to see what you've prepared for us... :))

A few organizational points.
1. Kyle and I will be running the tournament together. Saves should be sent to Kyle's address. As soon as either I finish a map or decide not to play it, I will start reviewing the saves.
2. I will be offline from March 15th to 22nd. Kyle will handle all questions. In an emergency, you can contact me through Kyle, but please keep in mind that roaming charges are quite high these days.
3. Please refrain from discussing the save files and maps until the tournament is over.
