Maybe I posted in the wrong place, but...
Each race has a super ability – the Call of Urgash for demons, magical omniscience for mages, and so on.
And I set out to level up magical omniscience. At around level 20, my mage had the following unlocked:
1. Higher Education: 1. Magic Attraction. 2. Skilled Logistics: 1. Pathfinding. 2. Golem March. 3. Sudden Attack.:eek:
3. Skilled Machine Operation: 1. Catapult. 2. Control over Machines.
4. Skilled Spellcasting: 1. Secret Knowledge. 2. Counterspell.
5. Constant Luck: -----------------------------------

So, when I gained another level, I was given a choice of only 2 (and not four :mad:) abilities: first aid tent and wisdom, which automatically closes the super ability.
I read somewhere that you always get the following options when leveling up:
1. New ability
2. Level up an ability
3. Sub-ability
4. Sub-ability.
That is, in my case, I was only given a choice between options 3 and 4.
But if this is really the case, then with just one such "unlucky" choice when leveling up a super ability, the super ability is completely ruined??? I doubt it.
