The famous British racer, Colin McRae, has passed away. He began his career in 1987. Twenty years after his victorious races, of which there were over 25, Colin died in a helicopter crash near his estate in Scotland, along with his son, another child, and an adult.

As the British press notes, Colin McRae was an excellent pilot not only in the cockpit of a car but also at the controls of a helicopter, which he flew not only in England but also used to travel around Europe.

The 39-year-old Colin is survived by his wife and daughter.

Sad news for fans of world rally racing. This Saturday, a helicopter crashed near the town of Lanark, Scotland, piloted by the famous racer Colin McRae. His five-year-old son, Johnny, and two other people, whose identities have not yet been established, also died in the crash.

The wife of the famous athlete, Alison, and his daughter, Holly, were not on board the helicopter.

Colin McRae is one of the most famous rally racers of our time. He won 25 races in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and finished on the podium 42 times.
It was Colin McRae who brought the "Subaru" brand to the top of the World Rally Championship. One of the most reckless and spectacular rally drivers in the world, he was a favorite of fans, who nicknamed their idol "McCrash" for the number of cars he wrecked. Colin McRae always emerged unscathed from all the crashes.

McRae is also known to all fans of racing simulators for the cult series of games, Colin McRae Rally.

Yeah, that’s really sad! He was a great racer, and I watched his championships. And the racing simulators (there are five of them, I think) are a real work of art; McRae participated in their creation and even did voice acting for them. Well, what can you say? You can’t escape fate...

I watched them too (not much, and not often, but I liked it; he pulled a Honda out from under the skirting board), and I had to play the rally games a couple of times... I have good memories of it... :smile39:
