Heroes 7.5 Mod — Main Changes Compared with Might & Magic Heroes VII
Version scope: This article describes Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45. As of 5 September 2026, v1.45 is the latest file categorized as Full Version on the mod's current ModDB downloads list; the v1.45 release page records that it was added on 3 August 2026. A later Custom Music Pack is categorized as Music, not as a newer full release; its ModDB entry was updated on 12 August 2026.
Heroes 7.5 Mod is a fan-made overhaul for Might & Magic Heroes VII. It expands the base game with additional factions, creatures, heroes, skills, spells, artifacts, maps, battlefields and other gameplay changes, and it incorporates the Unofficial Community Patch (UCP) 1.3. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45) (Unofficial Community Patch) (Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal)
Main changes compared with the original Heroes VII
1. Additional factions and towns
The v1.45 release lists the following additional factions: Inferno, Tower, Sanctuary, Conflux, Xel, Temple, Mercenary and Cove. The same release describes the additional factions as having their own creatures, heroes, skills, town screens and music themes. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
Cove is explicitly marked as a work in progress in v1.45. The v1.45 changelog states that the Mercenary Castle was temporarily duplicated to house and balance Cove creatures and that one Cove hero with a Cove faction skill was created. Cove should therefore not be described as a fully completed faction in an article scoped to v1.45. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
Version 1.45 also added four Mercenary heroes and a Mercenary faction skill named Arcane Fury. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
2. Expanded creature rosters
The current feature list states that factions receive one additional Elite creature and one additional Champion creature, as well as an alternative creature. The mod also adds neutral creatures and modifies or adds abilities for existing creatures. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45) (Heroes 7.5 project overview)
The project description explains that the additional Elite and Champion units are tied to special buildings and a creature-sacrifice mechanic. This system is also described by the Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal overview of the mod. (Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal) (Heroes 7.5 project overview)
3. Nine creature slots instead of seven
Version 1.45 lists 9 creature slots instead of 7 as a main feature. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
The feature was introduced in v1.41 as two additional army and garrison slots. At that time, the v1.41 changelog stated that the extra slots allowed more troops to be transported, but units in those slots could only be deployed in combat with the Outnumbering ability. Version 1.42 later fixed problems connected with nine-slot armies, including disappearing creatures when all nine slots were filled and a caravan-related issue. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.41) (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.42)
Because the v1.45 release notes do not restate whether every v1.41 deployment restriction still applies, the stable current claim is simply that Heroes 7.5 supports a maximum of nine creature slots instead of seven. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
4. Expanded Talent Wheel and Synergy Skills
Version 1.41 introduced 12 Synergy Skills. According to that changelog, a Synergy Skill is obtained when a hero develops the required combination of two specific skills to Master level. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.41)
The same update expanded the Talent Wheel to allow up to 7 Master skills and 3 Ultimate skills; the changelog states that the previous limit was three Master skills and four Expert skills. The project feature article also describes Master-level skill combinations as the basis for synergy abilities. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.41) (Heroes 7.5 project overview)
5. Combat, skills and balance changes
Heroes 7.5 includes new or modified spells, artifacts, hero skills and creature abilities. The project feature article also states that Warcries were redesigned and that the balance between Might and Magic heroes was reworked. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45) (Heroes 7.5 project overview)
Balance is version-specific and continues to change between releases. For example, v1.45 reduced the hero damage bonus per level from Grandmaster Offense from 20 to 7, reduced the damage of Second Hit by 50%, and changed Shadow Image so that it cannot target enemies and has a five-round cooldown. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
For this reason, numerical values and exact ability behavior in Heroes 7.5 should not be assumed to match the original game or an older version of the mod.
6. AI changes
Version 1.41 introduced targeted Adventure Map AI changes by reassigning internal roles to AI heroes, with the stated aim of producing more logical Adventure Map behavior. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.41)
Version 1.42 added further Combat AI Fixes. The changelog records a fix for the Fortress Rune AI freeze, changes intended to make AI-controlled creatures move toward opponents more effectively, a change preventing Marksman units from using Wait in situations considered disadvantageous for the AI, and an increase in the frequency with which AI creatures use active abilities. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.42)
7. Maps, battlefields, bosses and Random Map Generator changes
The mod's current feature list includes maps created specifically for Heroes 7.5, new or improved battlefields, and boss fights. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45) (Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal)
The Random Map Generator (RMG) has also been modified. In v1.45, the developers reworked starting zones and mine placement, fixed heroes failing to spawn in forest zones, reworked vegetation density, fixed Menagerie spawn and growth logic, and fixed an army-generation issue in which the Random Position option could assign all armies to the same faction. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
8. UCP 1.3 integration
Heroes 7.5 v1.45 lists UCP 1.3 included among its main features. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
The UCP project's own documentation independently confirms the relationship: it states that Heroes 7.5 is based on UCP 1.3 and that UCP fixes and improvements are incorporated into Heroes 7.5. The UCP project also describes UCP itself as a community modification for Might & Magic Heroes VII and Trial by Fire focused on fixing remaining problems in the game. (Unofficial Community Patch)
Important information for players
Trial by Fire is required
The Trial by Fire expansion is mandatory for Heroes 7.5. The v1.45 release page states that the game will not work with the mod without it; the Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal overview repeats the same requirement. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45) (Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal)
The installer removes other mods
The v1.45 release notes state that the setup removes all other installed mods. Players using other modifications should therefore back up or otherwise account for them before installing Heroes 7.5. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45) (Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal)
The standard campaign is not recommended
The v1.45 release notes explicitly state that playing the campaign with the mod is not recommended. The same warning appears in the independent Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal overview. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45) (Heroes 3.5/WoG Portal)
Localization status in v1.45
The v1.45 release notes list English, French, German and Chinese as fully localized and Hungarian, Polish, Czech, Russian and Spanish as partially localized. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45)
Older project pages and releases contain different localization lists. For a v1.45 article, the v1.45 release notes should therefore be cited rather than older localization information. (Heroes 7.5 Mod v1.45) (Heroes 7.5 project overview)

additional Elite and Champion units, alternative creatures and new neutral creatures;

Because Heroes 7.5 has changed substantially between releases, articles about individual creatures, skills, factions or numerical balance values should identify the mod version they describe.
