After uniting the scattered clans, the dwarves became a mighty force capable of defending themselves against all enemies. Children of the Fire Dragon, they bowed before him in the most inaccessible corners of the world, where magma was the only source of light, and as a result, acquired the secrets of the forge and furnace.
At first, other races were not even aware of the existence of dwarves. This continued until the Flame Wars (28-41 SD), when dwarven detachments joined with other races to oppose the demons. After the hostilities ended, they returned to their homes in the Undermountain Kingdom and had no general dealings with their neighbors for a long time. Gradually, a network of tunnels dug deep underground connected the cities of the dwarves.
Everything changed when the Dark Elves approached the borders of the dwarven lands. The gradually escalating situation turned into the Undermountain War, in which the dwarves crushed the Dark Elves and drove them from their lands. The settlements of the Dark Elves fell into decay, and the borders of the Undermountain Kingdom were secured.
Even now, the dwarves remain vigilant, guarding their borders so that no one can penetrate their lands unnoticed. Few can count on the friendly support of the dwarves, who are cautiously expanding their kingdom.
Much of the history of the dwarves is hidden from the rest of the world. The dwarves compose long sagas and legends about their feats, wars, and adventures, but do not share them with others. The wonders they have seen and the wars they have fought remain a secret, as do the lands in which they dwell. At least for now.
