In the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 lobby

Tournament start: soon! Tournament duration: from 1 month. 1 week per round. 

Prize pool 11 thousand rubles: first place - 7k rubles, second - 3k rubles, third - 1k rubles. Bank commissions at the recipient's expense.

Game version - SoD, no mods. Format below in the messages. Bo1 matches. 

Template - a strike list of five options (the coin toss loser starts), here are the options:

6lm, Jebus Cross, 2sm, 8mm and the Pervert's Pack - plus another  strike list of five templates (stricken all at once; if it continues, the strike continues) - the pack consists of 8xm8, 8xm12, Panic, Anarchy, Diamond.

All games follow the Heroes World portal rules. /link (you know the drill, no GO, don't steal guarded artifacts and objects, re on meeting, re on block, gentlemanly conduct, papal postponements (no, not that)...).

New, important: On templates other than Jebus Cross - for Conflux and Necro the starting hero is random, for Dungeon Shakti cannot be chosen.

Default settings on all templates: timer 24+8:30+1:30  OH - 121. Restarts 113.

Difficulty on Panic 130%, on Anarchy 200%, others 160%

Towns - trading, except Anarchy - random.

The best format seems to be a round-robin tournament where the top two players compete in an eighth game – the final. In case of a tie, we'll look at their head-to-head record. I hope this works; I don't want to introduce extra games, but we'll see how it goes.

We all know each other, so we'll play as best we can, in any order, but at least one game per week. We'll try not to drag it out and finish before May.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions, please share them now or... later. I suggest we start on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Two bracket options, with 10 participants:

1) Two groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals and final. (4-6 games)

2) Round-robin, where everyone plays everyone else without extra games. (9 games)

Let me know if anyone has a preference.

 

To clarify the game settings: -Tournament rules - on (except for Anarchy), rebuilding with a library - on, second stack and rebuilding - off.

Templates for the map editor: 6lm10a, 2sm4d(3), 8mm6a, JC, pack(8xm12a, 8xm8a, Panic, Anarchy v1.0.1, Diamond)
Again, regarding the pack with five templates. One is eliminated at a time; if any remain, the map editor continues with the five templates in it.

Can anyone run a proper stream of their game on the weekend?

For this, you need a newer computer, I think one from 2010 or later, that can run OBS, and a streamer friend who can set it up for a beer... no one knows how the first streamer appeared.

The round-robin format has a drawback. Someone who loses 3-4 games won't be motivated to continue playing. The group format also has a drawback; as I understand it, there are currently 11 people. This means the groups will be uneven, and the difficulty level may vary.

*Regarding 14 participants, 7 in each group.

Total: 12 participants. 2 groups - A and B, with 6 players each, playing each other. Blue plays against blue, red against red.

The top three from groups A and B advance to group C, where they play 3 games against players from the other group. Red plays against blue.

The top two from group C advance to the final. 3rd place - bronze.

All games are best-of-1. In case of a tie in wins, the head-to-head result is considered.
If more than two players are in an equal position in group C and there is no clear leader based on head-to-head results, the player who was higher in group A or B is ranked higher in the table.
In such a situation in groups A and B, additional games may be required if no better solution is proposed.

The group draw will take place today at 15:15, using a coin toss in the lobby; entry is free. The rules and fairness of the draw are at the discretion of the organizers.

The tournament will start immediately after the draw. I will post the results and new information here.

Regarding controversial issues related to bidding for the starting city:
-If a pair of identical cities is drawn, they can be freely re-drawn, or the identical cities can be played with mutual consent.
-Banning one city from the drawn pair costs 500 gold and can be used twice in a separate game.

I suggest forming groups based on current player ratings. That is, there will be groups of "favorites" and "underdogs."

I didn't quite understand. Divide the favorites into different groups? Or put all those with high rankings into one group? I'm in favor of, if we divide by ranking, taking the highest ranking and putting one in one group, and another with a similar ranking in another group. Well, in my opinion, we only have one favorite by ranking, the rest are average. Maybe it's easier to just flip a coin?
