Hello to all HoMM fans! Please, teach me how to play this magnificent game from 1999; I used to play it, but without much strategy or understanding of what I was doing. You see, I'm just a newbie in this game, I understand very little, and I don't know all the words and concepts. I've browsed several websites and YouTube, but I haven't found anything really good or understandable. If I can understand some things, there are others I don't know, and I can't find information about them. I do want to learn how to play. Please be understanding and help me. Please write everything about everything, starting from the very basics, and you can attach photos to your messages; I will read and learn from them. I'm waiting for any amount of information; it's okay if the "education" turns out to be very long.

Then move on to spiral campaigns:

After that, you won't be able to stop! I constantly spend several hours on my own campaigns.

Regarding saves. I recommend saving the game into separate slots. Here is my save file system:
at the beginning of the month (save "Month")
at the beginning of the week (save "1")
at the beginning of the day (save "2")
after every battle (save "3")
before every significant strategic decision (save "4")
after every captured town (saves "Town 2", "Town 3", "Town 4" etc.)

This way you will complete the map with minimal time loss.
When playing a campaign, you can make additional saves for each map, although it's not mandatory. I didn't need those saves at all.

By the way, when I started playing, I didn't use magic at all (the "Book" icon in the bottom right corner of the battlefield). And it was fine; everything could be completed normally.

I've completed all the spiral maps; they're great! It's a shame there aren't more of them.

Now play the campaigns. Also, play the "The Restoration of Erathia" campaign. I don't know what else needs to be explained here. Everything is clear.

To make the game easier, you can use cheats. But only if you understand what you are doing.
