Well, we humans are obviously backward and inexperienced compared to universal standards. But what about the others...? Surely, in almost 14 billion years in the vast cosmos, there hasn't been anyone who could currently overcome interstellar distances? Why haven't aliens visited us yet? 1. They don't exist. God the Creator only populated Earth with living beings. 2. Civilizations that were able to find a source of energy for interstellar travel did exist, but nuclear bombs sent them into oblivion before they could launch a starship. 3. They are already here. They are breeding bipedal creatures on Earth and quietly observing them from the Kuiper Belt ("Zoo Hypothesis"). 4. They have already been here. They looked at what kind of creatures inhabit this planet and decided to quietly leave (who would be interested in communicating with insects, especially aggressive ones?). 5. What 14 billion years??? Humans currently have the same mistaken idea about the Universe as they did in ancient times about the planet Earth...

Out of the hypotheses presented, the fourth one seems the most realistic to me. However, I have vague doubts that humans will turn out to be those very Ancients, Precursors, First Ones, Creators, and other pompous names for the first cosmic race, about which crowds of younger races speak with bated breath. And they will find some Ancient and Great Artifact, containing the Sacred Knowledge of the First Race, and it will turn out to be 100 gigabytes of video with funny cats.

Well, if I had to name a fictional reptilian race off the top of my head, I'd say the Silurians, but they're not really aliens.
