While an alchemist, Tancred learned an ancient recipe for a potion that explodes without magic. To his great sorrow the key ingredient — saltpetre — was almost nonexistent in Antagarich. Only in Jadame did Tancred find whole caves full of this priceless substance, and perfected the arquebus that hurls tiny projectiles with monstrous force.
